Maybe the Imposter Sting in the NWO was the closest Sting ever got to turninging heel as far as I know.Unless you consider his joinin the Wolfpack a heel turn?As far as I rememebr he headn't been a heel since his days in the UWF as a member of Hotstuff International.

He was briefly a heel before just before Russo took over. He was feuding with Hogan at the time, leading to Halloween Havoc (I think?). It really didn't go well at all. Sting just really doesn't work as a heel. So they quickly turned him face again.

Are you sure it was Fall Brawl? I could've sworn it was Havac? ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png) Not that it really matters, though.

It was Fall Brawl, during the match he had with Hogan, he got a bat from Luger and nailed Hogan while the ref was knocked out and pinned him.

What was amazing about this is that Sting did everything a heel was supposed to do.
He cheated, using the bat to wallop an unsuspecting Hogan to win the belt. He attacked people from behind.
The WCW fans simply refused to boo him regardless of what he did.

I remember this. It was like trying to turn the Undertaker heel right now. Even though he could play the role perfectly.. people just don't boo him.
It would be like boo'ing Dreamer towards the end of ECW.

I didn't watch much WCW by that point, but RD talks about it in Death of WCW. He said it was basically ignored because the fans didn't accept him as a heel and/or didn't know he was supposed to be heel because they barely watched any more either.

It doesn't matter how dastardly a heel is, if the heel turn happens for no reason (or no good reason) the fans will not accept it if said wrestler was a recognized face before hand.

I thought they segued him back as a face fairly well. They played it off as him being manipulated by Luger all along.

Was this the first show with the new company logo? The announcers made reference to this being a "new look for Monday Nitro".

it was bad, and one of these things that shouldn't, but somehow does, make you feel embarrassed for someone else.
