Yeah, that is pretty much the point, look at the DC world right now? Do you think he'd have much faith? Even the heroes are screwing each other over.

Tolkien's law. There's always something more to write. but that doesn't always mean it'll be good.

how so? sure you're not thinking of Marvel? Marvel too, but batman trusts none of the Justice league after they mind wiped him, no one trusts Wonder woman after she chopped off Maxwell lord's head and the whole amazon's attack thing. All of the heroes have gone freaking bonkers there. It isn't even taking sides they are all over the place, sans the Lanterns who all banded together.

Batman's whole story during 52 was about becoming a better person and being able to trust people again (heck, he even forgave Hal Jordan during Infinite Crisis). Wonder Woman's been exonerated of all charges relating to Maxwell Lord and she fought AGAINST the Amazons during "Amazons Attack". just setting your story straight.

Ah, see Amazon's attack was so awful I couldn't get through it, as was Wonder Woman over the past few years, so much so that every one I knew dropped it. As for bats, does he ever, truly forgive anyone?

For now. We have another Crisis coming where EVERYTHING CHANGES FOREVER and will never be the same again!
I am so sick of that from both companies.

He would never do it, nor would he ever have done more.
As he puts it, the Watchmen was designed with the sole purpose of delivering that specific message. Not to implicitly trust those elevated to heroes above the law, because when given the responsibility to of shepard the world some will decide that some sheep need to be sacrificed to the wolf for the sake of the flock. It was created to be what it was, not a launching pad for new properties.
