Okay...time for the next two! 8: Chiodos - Bone Palace Ballet This album is just...wow. It took everything I loved about Chiodos and pretty much magnified it to create a really, really awesome album. Craigery's voice is tops, as usual...and there are parts on this album that are just intense and crazy. And while it does get real catchy sometimes, it does so without sounding poppy...and still manages to keep the generally dark atmosphere of the album. Also, the track titles are just great stuff...and I dunno, everything about this album was just really, really cool. I love it. If you've never heard Chiodos before and you dig post-hardcore, you should definitely check 'em out...they're on the more experimental side of it, and take some influence from The Blood Brothers...but that's a good thing. Check 'em out. 7. Marilyn Manson - Eat Me, Drink Me This album was a huge change in sound for Manson...but I think he needed it after the, in my opinion, quite boring Golden Age of Grotesque. Not that that was a bad album...it just felt like a huge rehash of all his old material. A lot of people don't seem to like this album because it doesn't sound enough like old Manson...but I think it's a good change. The whole album has a great atmosphere about it...and the songs flow into each other quite well. He also seems to tell lots of stories on this album...not a concept album, but the songs really tell their stories quite well. Sure, a little of his heaviness is gone...but he's still heavy, just not in necessarily the same fashion. In any case, I think this album is just damn awesome. The only silly part being the song that is apparently about My Chemical Romance ripping him off...which I fail to see how they're doing that. Silly Manson. Oh well...still a great, great CD, and provided some much, much needed change to his music.

Next twoooo 6. The Dear & Departed - Something Quite Peculiar Now this one kinda hit me out of nowhere...I'd never even heard of them until I saw them on tour with AFI earlier this year...and while the two people I went with didn't dig their stuff at all, I found it quite awesome. So I was readily awaiting their first album...and it came out...and well, it's pretty damn awesome. It's full of a lot of catchy stuff somewhere in between post-hardcore and new-wave. It's an interesting blend, to say the least...and it's just a lot of fun and really, really great music. Plus, they put on an excellent live show...I just really like a lot of stuff about these guys, and from this first album, they show a lot of promise. I can't wait to see what they do next. 5. The Smashing Pumpkins - Zeitgeist The Pumpkins are one of my favourite bands ever...so if they didn't make the list, it'd be pretty weird, unless the album was awful...and this album is quite far from awful. Sure, it's a little different from their old stuff...but I never do see how that's a bad thing. Plus, it's still got Billy's signature guitar layered production style that creates that really deep, lush sound. This album is definitely catchy, and has a lot of really cool downtempo tracks too...great lyrics...it's just an awesome album in general. Plus, United States is 11 minutes of pure greatness. If you like the Pumpkins...you should at least give this a listen.

Dude, you know I love ya.... but every time I see your Top 10 lists... I realize how different we are.
Not that it's a bad thing.
Just that we're very.... very different.

But that is definitely a good thing...if people weren't different, this place would be so goddamn boring. Plus, you have awesome taste in music, and a great outlook on it. I'm actually starting to get more into some of the genres you listen to...not all of it, but there are bands here and there that are appealing to me more and more these days. But my taste grows and evolves every day, so yeah.

I'll be sure to pick up some of these albums. I am trying to get out of my musical coma and you've been a big help towards that.

Yeah, Dude, you're like a music chameleon. There are certain bands and genres that just scream, "Dude listens to these guys." but overall... it's really difficult to pin down everything you enjoy, which is a damn good quality to have.

Thanks, I'm rather fond of it myself. Music is pretty much my life...and if I ran out of stuff to enjoy I'd be pretty upset.

I'm seeing a decided lack of Turbonegro on this list as well.
I like some of the choices, here's my list:
1- "Retox" by Turbonegro 2- "From Beale Street to Oblivion" by Clutch 3- "Zietgeist" by Smashing Pumpkins 4- "Era Vulgaris" by Queens on the Stone Age 5- "Wincing the Night Away" by The Shins 6- "Icky Thump" by the White Stripes 7- "Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace" by the Foo Fighters 8- "Systematic Chaos" by Dream Theater
That's right, I do top 8's because I'm cool like that.
