I run long distance but im getting ready for the track season but havent been running for awhile as i have been very sick during middle cross country season, and so i took along break. Also i havent been running is because i injured my back a couple years ago playing football, and its been giving me alot of pain lately.

I ran the mile in high school; personal best was just under seven minutes. Now I just run after I work out.

Also i havent been running is because i injured my back a couple years ago playing football, and its been giving me alot of pain lately. As a famous actor aforementioned, I do. Basically, I fit all of the above...except olympic, because I ain't that great. In high school, I was bored and a friend of mine told me about xc/track. Practicing with the team in 10th grade and joining indoor track as well, started a base for myself. I knew I would be terrible for track (learned the hard way in 12th grade), so I did not join. Did XC in 11th and 12th grades and loved every bit of it...despite not posting good times, I had a good time overall and that's the point that counts. In college, I joined our school's xc team and was okay my first and third years, mediocre my second year, and performed where I should be this past season. Our school does not have a sanctioned track team, but I go with as an extramural activity...still suck, but gets me to do something. This season, I hope to not finish last in Track...and this is with athletes in near Division III. I also run in races in all that I can in eastern PA region...especially running the Lehigh Valley Half-Marathon, the home race. I can do anything from 5k's up to a Marathon (3:37 this past November)...would like to go up the distance ladder even further and complete UltraMarathons (50k's, 50-Milers, 100-Milers), but I am not ready yet, until I get used to finishing a marathon. As for the weather...I actually enjoy this type of weather the best, because as soon as I keep moving, my body heat warms up to the point I won't complain being cold. As long as I can resist temptations (i.e. gaining weight), I should feel good coming up for track season. As for the no-running bit, I did that for a long time between my freshman/sophmore years in college...got an infected toe that nearly ruined my xc career, but I never quit. You should go see a doctor (chiropractor) to see if you can run with your back problem, in order to be safe.
