On July 27th, 1999, Major League Baseball held a "Turn Ahead the Clock Night", with several teams wearing absolutely putrid uniforms. These uniforms were intended to be "futuristic", but most of them simply featured the team logo blown up to about ten times its normal size and splattered across the front. Mariners uniform:  The Pittsburgh Pirates vs. The "Mercury Mets":  Barry Bonds wearing this abomination: .jpg) More fun with the Mercury Mets (Orel looks more perturbed than usual):  The Angels' uni photoshopped into a video game:  I remember the Indians and Rockies also taking part in this. |

Just hearing "Mercury Mets" gives me the chills.

I remember the Yankees and Red Sox, along with a couple of other teams, didn't participate because they felt their uniforms were too "traditional" to be tampered with.

That's just stupid. If you're going to be futuristic, then go all the way with it, like the "Mercury Mets" did.
The Angels, Mariners, Giants and Pirates "future uniforms" are weak. Its just a huge logo on the uniform.
Don't let anyone from MLB or Majestic Authentic be reminded of this, or else we'll be seeing those uniforms as the Spring Training jerseys in a few years.
