Ok, so this afternoon, I go to play Guitar Hero 3, and when I turn on the console, I get a white screen saying "To play this disc, put it in an Xbox 360 console". Well, It IS in the console.
So I go to the dashboard, and I think I found the problem. Instead of saying "Guitar Hero 3" at the bottom, where you press that button and go to play the game, it instead says, "Play DVD". I tried this with many of my games, same result. So apparently, my 360 thinks my games are DVDs.
Anybody know how I can fix this? I'd prefer not to have to call the hotline, I tried it already, and was put on hold for an ungodly amount of time.

All I can suggest is unplug the system for a few minutes then try again.
I hate the hotline too. You hold forever then talk to some indian that you can't understand and that can't understand you and nothing gets resolved. That's been my experience anyway.

That happened to me once. I cleaned the disc and it worked.

Maybe reset the console back to the factory settings, that may fix it.
That's a last resort, though.

That happened to me once. I cleaned the disc and it worked. That's the problem though. I've tried at least three other games, all with the same result. And as far as cleaning goes, I had trouble with my 360 before, sent it in, and got a brand new one. So this console is about two weeks old. And the discs I'm trying, have no scratches on them at all.

Hmm... I think you're boned. Get a new box.
