Haven't seen HoWC yet, but I've been fairly high in regards to WWE's attempt. It's a thousand times better than Faded Glory, the original documentary about the Von Erichs, which was a complete fluff piece.

They're both very good. Heroes gets a nod because of the whole demolition of the Sportatorium piece, but Triumph gets a nod because of the story.

Heroes of World Class. Nothing new can be said, it was marvelous, simply marvelous...though very depressing.

Yeah, the Sportatorium sequence with KVE on "Heroes" is a brilliant piece of filmmaking.
I just finished watching T&T and it's pretty good. I'd buy both. Hope that helps!

The HoWC is very good I own the directors cut, and its very sad and depressing. Personally I think its the best wrestling documentary out there.

Ive never seen the non-WWE one. I have re-discovered David Von Erich on youtube. Check out his heel stuff from Florida. I wonder how different things wouldve worked out if he hadnt died. I wonder if evertyone else wouldve commited suicide?

I like both. Heroes of World Class talks about the darker side with all the deaths and the Production of the TV. Triumph is mostly about the Freebirds/Von Erich feud and it has Michael Hayes on it. That is the only thing that hurts Heroes of World Class In my Opinion.

Heroes was far better. The people interviewed seemed to be more open about talking about the negative parts of the run and about Fritz in particular (the stuff Kevin says is downright scary). It can be an eyesore to watch (the referee guy's face goes from pale to red and back again every time he's on), but it's a helluva story.
That being said, I bought Triumph anyway and the documentary is nowhere near as good, but I was glad to get the matches, which is what Heroes missed.

Unfortunatly I haven't had a chance to watch either yet, but most reviews I've seen and what I'm hearing from opinions here is that they Triumph disc is a great companion piece and fills in some gaps of HoWC but neither are perfect

they are both very good companion pieces, while heroes focuses on the entire roster, and goes into the deaths further.
Triumph and Tragedy brings in stories from other perspectives of those who weren't interviewed and especially into the freebirds

Heroes told the better story IMO. Triumph and Tragedy was mainly about The Von Erichs and The Freebirds and only touched lightly on the other stars...Chris Adams, Gino Hernandez, etc. Plus, Heroes has the incredible demolition of the Sportatorium video and it seemed like they had a wider variety of first hand interviews.
Story - Heroes of World Class
As for bonus material, one has to give the nudge to Tragedy and Triumph. Matches and skits galore. Heroes simply has some radio recordings and a portion of ROH's Jim Cornette shoot interview.
Bonus Material - Tragedy and Triumph of WCCW
However, since WWE's documentary wins the bonus material category essentially by default since they are the only ones who have access to the footage, I would have to say that I liked Heroes of World Class more, and felt that the director in that documentary really did his homework and did the most with what he had to work with.
If this is a thread on which to buy, really buy both. I enjoyed them both a lot.

I wonder if evertyone else wouldve commited suicide? I thought about that. I don't think any of the other brothers would have. I don't really know that much of the story but DVE seems like a much more positive father figure than Fritz, especially to Kevin.
