February 17, at the Tokyo Ryogoku Kokugikan, Kurt Angle defends the "IWGP 3rd generation belt" versus the REAL IWGP Champion, Shinsuke Nakamura in a title vs title unification match. It's being billed as "2nd generation title vs 3rd generation title"
If Angle wins, he'll be the REAL 49th IWGP Champion and if Nakamura wins, he'll win a title that doesn't mean shit. Either which way, the IWGP 3rd generation title looks like it's days are numbered.

Spoiler Alert: Angle's not gonna win.
Now, since I don't follow this stuff that closely, is the IWGP 3rd Gen belt the same as the 2nd Gen belt? Or is there even a belt involved?
Because I'd be heartbroken to see the IWGP belt fall to the wayside. It is probably my favorite belt design of all time.

I would assume they'd go back to using the belt Angle has. They only brought out the older one cause Brock stole their good one.
