What happened to my thread in WWE Current about the rappers buying front-row tickets to 'Mania to confront 50 Cent? It got very, very ugly. In fact, the first reply was racist. Can I create the thread again then, or is it best to let it lie?

I have avatars and sigs turned off because my computer is slow. Okay, we got that down. Now, my complaint is about these images above or under the avatar. I see some guy has a huge .gif there, and "Larry Levenson" has a movie poster...ENOUGH!
If you want to have a picture near your name use an avatar. These other pictures are not only unnecessary, but some of us can't turn them off. Seriously, why not just put that big picture of an old lady or Mick Foley flair flopping in your avatar?

This is not the 'official' response, but I'd suggest turning off pictures in your browser for now. There will be an official response after some discussion on measures.

I think I know the GIF he is talking about, and I agree it's very large. I don't have a problem with the load times, but my issue is that one of the computers I use to read the forum operates on a low resolution. Because of that, the picture causes the entire page to shift and cut off a good third of the screen. Sadly the avatar pics don't resize, otherwise I wouldnt notice an issue.

actually... all ya have to do is get the admin to go to "Admin" -> "Skins/Forum Colors" -> "Modify Skin" -> "Default" then go down to the url bar next to that smiley face and replace it with the url of another smiley face.

I wish, but to my knowledge there's no way. Actually, I have an idea. Just hit me actually. Filter the colon-colon-parenthesis to something like a space or a joke at the poster's expense. I know it isn't necessary...but that damn smiley breeds more hostility than some swear words around here. Just a suggestion, of course.

I'll take it up with the rest of the guys, see if we can come to some kind of majority consensus.

I'm not sure that a joke at the poster's expense is necessary or prudent. Somehow, answering "hostility" with more of the same seems as though it would defeat the purpose.
Methinks I'll save my remark about "internet" and "thick skin" for another time.

From the new announcement that things were not running smoothly in my absence. Was that pre-emptive on Madison's part or did things actually get as ugly as they did in times past (such as during the Benoit situation or such)?
For that matter, why does it seem that every time that I am away for a number of days there is always either a ton of crap that goes on or some big news happens>

Regarding the earlier suggestion of creating a filter for the smiley. Somehow I think a joke at the expense of the poster attempting to use said smiley would be counterproductive. Damn, $lim, that's two nights in a row we've misunderstood each other...heh.

I don't believe there's actually a size limit on sig pics. That's why the resizer is in place. I do know, however, there's a recommended size.
Clarification, mods? We've discussed this before, but it's never actually been published in either the FAQ or the Rules, near as I can tell.
EDIT: I take it back, there's a size limit, according to Rule 3. It's just not enumrated anywhere at this point (and I know at one point it was, since at one point we had a guide image stating the pixel dimension allowable). Perhaps some updating to the FAQ regarding this would help? Just a thought.

Have you considered putting the Ask a mod thread in the announcement's part so it appears in every forum?
I just think that may help some posters who don't necessarily come to off topic ask questions that helps them out.

I'm sure you've answered it before but i've been curious about this one for a while but why do all the threads about alcohol always get locked?

I'm sure you've answered it before but i've been curious about this one for a while but why do all the threads about alcohol always get locked? Q : Can you clarify the "no alcohol or illegal drug discussion" rule, please? A : This link should be a good starting place. If that does not work for you, then here's this from that thread: "Discussion of most of those things are fine, something like drugs would need to be closely moderated, just make sure no one says things like 'drugs are cool' etc Promotion of alcohol: again it's ok to mention that you might be going to the pub, or that you add sherry to the trifle, but not to tell others that they should drink it, and you can't advertise alcohol." Further on the subject, from the same thread: "In regards to the drugs question. Its fine to discuss topics about drugs, but don't be making posts such as "pot is kool, give it a try". If you are encouraging other users to try it or are bragging about using it yourself, then because that violates USA law, it can get your board deleted" So for instance I might say that I knocked a few back on my way home from work. I couldn't, however, make a thread on which beers go best with certain foods since that would be asking for advertisements on some beers.
