...how he always talks about things that happened in the WWF before his arrival as if he was there when it happened. When did Ross show up, early 1993?
For example, he talks trash about the Warrior on the self destruction DVD as if he was present for all that went on. Sure Warrior was a prick, but he has no authority to speak about anything during the Warriors first 2 runs.
When somebody like Dibiase or the Rockers reunite on a homecoming show, Ross is always like "I haven't heard that music in a long time bah gawd fruity fruity" As if he fancies himself as a link to the golden era of wrestling. I remember Monsoon calling matches when those guys were wrestling, not Ross.

TBF to him, he is also a fan of the business, to say he never saw a Warrior promo or watching Dibiase/the Rockers is a bit unfair.

Also, he did commentate for some of DiBiase's matches in 93, so I think he could say he hasn't heard that theme in a while and it would be a true statement.
As for the Warrior, maybe he had friends in the E at the time. I know that's what he said on the AWA DVD when he talked about it going downhill, as he had friends there who would tell him about the happenings there.
Plus, it's a WWE DVD so they could talk about anyone they want, even if the person may not have been around.

also didn't he say he has been in the business for over 20 years or something? maybe he wasn't an announcer but was just there as a backstage worker or something

He said glamazon 13 times last night, that's what bothers me.
He worked for NWA/WCW until he worked in WWF I'mp retty sure. But he could still have seen all that stuff.

I love how you say HE has no authority to make a statement like that when YOU don't know how much he actually knows about the situation. Just like on Monday Night Raw he is there to endorse the product and get people excited about what they are watching, which is exactly what he is doing on the DVDs and homecoming shows when he talks about certain wrestlers. When the day comes that JR decides to step away for good it will probably be a very sad day for me because even on an average night JR has a way to make a regular match feel like something special. |

Jim Ross kept track of behind-the-scenes newz from the best I can remember so it's not like he was completely out of the loop as far as WWF was concerned. That being said, I find it VERY annoying that he comments on Warrior so much as if he knows more than anyone else. Back to my point though--Atlanta's WSB radio hosted Jim Ross on Sunday nights (I think it was Sunday) and I used to listen EVERY week and think about how AWESOME it was to hear him mention Jake "The Snake" or Ultimate Warrior, even though he wasn't "supposed to." He did a GREAT job of walking the kayfabe line. One of my favorite Jim Ross moments ever was a kid caller who phoned in right as a brodacast was ending and asked, "Is wrestling fake?" Without missing a beat, he unhesitatingly and unremorsefully responded, "No." And futhermore, he stated that those guys were really throwing each other around out there and you can be assured the action and bumps you're seeing are real. My, how the mighty have fallen, eh?

The truth is, JR never even heard of wrestling until he started for the WWF. Sure, you saw him in WCW and AWA and other shit, but when he says he hasn't heard the Rockers music for a long time, we know that's a damn lie because there's no possible way for JR to have ever heard the Rockers music because they'd broken up before he started in the WWF.
The crowd basically did at 15th Anniversary Raw what you want JR to do, not react to anyone at all.

I remember Monsoon calling matches when those guys were wrestling, not Ross. well, people here including you talk daily on things like theyre an authority despite that they never saw it in person, but the difference is hes been in the company for nearly 15 years and in the business for nearly 25, and been an avid fan since before the majority of us were even born, i think that more than qualifies him to speak on things that anybody with a tv set could have known |

Maybe JR marked for the Rockers? I don't think he should be restricted to talking about WWE post-1993. In fact I'm still hoping he'll reference having to seriously put Robocop over in 1990.
