(Not so)Fun Facts:
--The tournament also resulted in a number of legitimate injuries -- Steve Blackman and Road Warrior Hawk were unable to work in usual WWF capacities for a while after. Savio Vega aggravated an old arm injury and would never work for WWF again.

--UFC veteran Dan "The Beast" Severn withdrew after being frustrated by the round structure, the judging (his takedowns were repeatedly ruled 'not clean') and having to wear boxing gloves.

Bart Gunn v. Butterbean

Poor Bart. If they would have just left it alone after the tournament and just let him be seen as a Tough Guy...sigh. Instead he gets knocked out and any momentum he could have had in the WWF/E was gone.

I personally liked the concept of the Brawl For All....it came off stupid the first time. But I think it could work still....But the only bad thing about it is that the guys do get injured.

But I would like to see it today with guys like Chuck Palumbo, Bob Holly, Trevor Murdoch, Elijah Burke, Kevin Thorn, MVP and others.

EDIT: Also another fun fact is that the original concept behind Brawl For All was that the winner was going to get a shot at Steve Austin. The winner of course was supposed to be Dr. Death Steve Williams, and was designed to launch him in the WWF. But after he got knocked out by Bart Gunn, and Bart Gunn went on to win the tournament, the higher ups changed their minds because they were mad because Bart won. So to punish Bart for winning, they put him in the ring with Butterbean.

Another fun fact is that the Bart Gunn vs Bob Holly match is that since they were such good friends at the time they agreed to not punch each other in the face before going out.

I had always heard that after Bart knocked out Dr. Death they just booked the thing to have Bart win instead. So it went from a shoot to a work to make it "less boring" and to keep guys from getting injured.

The Butterbean Match is problably the funniest thing I've ever seen and I laugh more and more every time I see it.

If they fixed the rules a bit it can used to show off some of the lower tier guys.

One of the dumbest things WWE ever did. It didn't build any stars, though it could have made Bart Gunn if gave him a push instead of a boxing match with Butterbean. It killed Dr. Death and his supposedly planned feud with Austin. It injured plenty of wrestlers. It DIDN'T include Ken Shamrock.

I never understood why some of the guys broke kayfabe and went by their real name (like Marc Canterbury who was still Henry Godwinn at the time), but other guys like Bart Gunn still used their character names.

I bet Gunn might have been able to take butterbean. Gunn said in his shoot that vince made him go to actual 'boxing school" to learn some actual boxing before his fight with butterbean. By the time his fight happened with butterbean, Gunn was thinking like a "boxer" instead of a "slugger." The rounds before he just went at his opponents and hit and hit and took them off their feet. Why didnt they just stick with what brought Gunn to the dance? He was caught off guard and Butterbean knocked him silly.

I understand how this is stupid and everything now because of injuries and shit but at the time when I was a younger kid I thought it was bad ass.
