My friends and I were talking and we came up with this idea for Hardcore Holly and Cody Rhodes, and I'd like to run it by you guys to hear what you think.
The idea would basically be that he continues to team with Cody and they have success and win their matches, except that at the end of each match as Cody goes to celebrate with Holly, Holly would basically attack him and hit him with the Alabama Slam and hog all the glory. Cody'll question Holly about why he keeps doing this and the response would only be "I don't like you" or "stay out of my spotlight". Eventually Cody would become more and more afraid of Holly following their wins until eventually they lose the tag titles, let's say due to a mis-hap with a chair. Following the match Holly goes to blast Cody with the chair, but Dusty runs in to make the save, and after a long stare-down Holly backs off.
The next week JR goes to Mobile to do an interview with Holly at his home. This leads to a scene of a real southern redneck house complete with crying children, and a dismayed wife, with subtle implications that he's abusive. Basically it could show how he's agressively bitter at his career thus far and takes it out on those around him. He then starts taking shots at Dusty Rhodes saying how he used to be the common man, but now he's lost touch, and that maybe it's time someone like Hardcore Holly stood up for the common man. From there he'd start wrestling in jeans and a wifebeater and scoring wins over jobbers until finally getting Dusty to accept his challenge and going over him in a Bunkhouse brawl or something like that. If done right, he could still remain a face, just very focused on achieving success.
From there he could go on to start a quest to become a champion, a Crusade for the the common man(if you will), the man who has to work 300 days a year just to put food on the table, and who will do anything to make sure that no one he faces takes money out of his pockets and food off his kids plates. He could also have continued signs of rage, and randomly attack almost anyone that comes into contact with him and rubs him the wrong way.
I think this character could feud well with others on Raw like Regal, JBL, Orton, etc. But Raw is stacked with top guys so it'd probably fit better on another brand where he could feud with the likes of Striker, Morrison, Miz, MVP, Edge etc.
So what're you're thoughts on this?
