i always thought of it as a slow build starting with the switch to the 2 hour show and the new set with the ramp in feb 97, then officially beginning in august when dx formed and took a lot of the on screen stuff in a more vulgar direction.
then winding down throughout late 2000 and officially ending at wrestlemania 17.

that said, best match: hbk vs undertaker hell in the cell. with a desurving second place to val venis vs flash funk in vals first match on raw. they let them go for quite a while, and had some cool spots from both guys and they really worked well together.

though i think it deserves mentioning that the single best moment during that time HAS to be DX impersonating the nation of domination.
