Read about Sting's DVD from WWE to be released in Dec 2008. If he is not in every segment of the dvd as an interviewee ala Self destruction of the ultimate warrior, than Vince is indeed the money hungry bastard I have always thought he was. He should give the Stinger his cut if he does this w/out Steve Borden.
Thoughts?

Vince owns the footage. Royalties are worth jack.

I don't think that this will be anything like Warrior's DVD. Sting has never worked for McMahon, so why would there be bad blood between the two?
I believe that this DVD is a way to bring Sting into WWE, at least for one or two appearances.

I imagine, if Sting is not contracted to TNA at the time of production, WWE will try to contact him to participate. If he refuses, they will probably treat it like they do with documentaries of deceased wrestlers (Pillman, Hennig). Savage may get the same treatment for his DVD, due out in late 2008 as well.

Flair's a close friend of Sting although everyone toes the corporate line for their master McMahon.
Anyway, I remember reading that the WWE does give royalties to the old wrestlers when they use their footage on 24/7. I'm sure the same is true for the DVDs and I've heard that it is.

I honestly think Sting is a guy who Vince respects and would love to work with him, but understands Sting's concerns. I really doubt this DVD will be a burial, parts may seem like it since they wouldn't have his side of the story if he isn't involved.
Honestly, with the Triple H/Flair match on RAW and the announcement of this DVD, I think the WWE is banking on the possibility of a Sting/Flair match at Wrestlemania, regardless of Sting's status with TNA.
Although, I have to admit, that's the inner-fanboy talking.

There's no way this'll be a burial, but a DVD for a guy who's had nothing to do with the company is so weird.

Wow, this is pretty incredible news. I'm crossing my fingers for a Sting vs. Undertaker feud. WCW's franchise player vs. WWE's.

You know, just because Vince is making this DVD with or without Sting being paid doesn't make McMahon a bastard. He has invested millions of dollars into buying the video libraries of companies like WCW, and he can do with that investment whatever he wants to make money as a return on his investment. It's smart, simple business, and it isn't exploiting anyone. Sting was paid well at the time for all his appearances and matches that will be on the DVD by the company that owned the footage at the time. He doesn't need to be paid again for it.
I don't see you coming on here and complaining that Vince might not be paying Cena extra money for all the work he did for the footage that was used on the John Cena DVD. Do you complain every time an old movie is rereleased on DVD that the actors aren't all being paid again for the footage being used? If WCW were still owned by Time Warner you wouldn't expect them to have to pay Sting again. So why a different set of expectations just because Vince bought the rights to the footage, that now he has to pay Sting again in order to use that footage?
Sorry, I just don't see how that makes McMahon a "money hungry bastard"... Oh of course you "always thought he was" anyway.

What negative stuff is their to say about Sting? He's a born again christian and a fantastic worker. He's not on Warrior levels of crazy as far as i know

I doubt it would be a burial since almost everybody that has worked with Sting loves the guy, and Sting himself says that he likes Vince, he just couldn't see himself wrestling in today's WWE. Also said that after Vince bought WCW, he was really good to him.

There's no way this'll be a burial, but a DVD for a guy who's had nothing to do with the company is so weird. Since Vince owns the name and library of WCW where Sting spent the majority of his career, why not? WCW history is now a part of WWE history, as much as ECW is now a part of WWE history.

Seems like a good way to get Sting to at least work with WWE on a project, even if it is a DVD project. Bret wanted to have a hand in shaping the story of his career. Sting could likely decide he wants to be involved to make sure his fingerprints are on the product that will represent his career in wrestling. I hope the announced Sting and Macho projects lead to some working relationships between those workers and WWE, even if it is a relationship like Bret and WWE.

I don't see it happening like the Warrior DVD. There would be a lot of guys who would raise a big stink over this(probably every ex-WCW guy). I don't think you could pay enough guys to say bad things about Sting. From all I've heard, he's pretty damn likable.

it's more up to sting than it is up to WWE if Sting wants to be part of the dvd.
Or you know some super nerd could splice Sting from the TNA DVD into the WWE dvd. and we'd have a bastardized version.

I wonder how the documentary is going to mention his TNA tenture.
