Alright kids, for the second time in two weeks, I went to a house show, but this time it was for the RAW superstars at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center in Poughkeepsie. This was me and my sister Eeriebagel conspiring on our brother thisshowsucks' birthday, which was a month ago. The show started at 7:30 and was over by around 10, give or take a few minutes. Here's the rundown:
- William Regal comes down to the ring to mostly boos (though myself and thisshowsucks cheered him like mad), and announced us to the show. He told us there would be a Women's title match between Maria and Beth Pheonix, Kennedy vs. Triple H, and Jeff Hardy taking on Randy Orton for the WWE Championship.
NOTE: There were no Royal Rumble qualifying matches at all. And Tony Chimmel did the ring announcing much to my chagrin.
Match 1: Brian Kendrick def. Vladimir Klozvov with a rollup at around 5 minutes. Klozvov did a promo berating us in this native language, whatever it may have been, and Kendrick comes out to the delight of six-year-olds everywhere. A boring match that was only "exciting" when Kendrick did his flippy moves. I chanted "Double Double E", and "Spanky".
Match 2: Snitsky def. DH Smith with the pumphandle pin at around the 6 minute mark. Another squash by the Snitsker, and his pimples are one of the reasons why WWE should not go hi-def. Nothing special of note here.
Match 3: Some guy (I think his first name was Dick, but no penis gimmick) def. Super Crazy with a dirty rollup at around 8 minutes. The crowd was huge into 'Crazy, but I wasn't. Oh well.
Match 4: Kofi Kingston (Atlas Colon I think his ringname was) def. Charlie Haas with some type of maneuver that involves splashing from the ropes at around 10 minutes. A fast-paced matchup with Kofi working the crowd real well. He also held a kids' sign that said "Haas-hole", to A LOT of laughs. Anyways, the two worked together well and I hope Kofi makes it. Also Ashley came down and said hi, and accompanied Kofi back to the lockerroom. MY bro was waving a one-dollar bill, but no answer .
Match 5: Beth Pheonix retains WWE Women's Championship by pinning Maria at around 5 minutes with that finisher she has (I don't know the name of it). Beth worked Maria stiff (no boner jokes please), and Maria looked like she had her bell legitimately rung. She was helped to the back, and in the process, Santino came down and did a promo. Trevor Murdoch also came down and asked him to be a tag team partner (the promo was hilarious, but I can't remember any of it). And so...
Match 6: World Tag Team Champions Hardcore Holly and Cody Rhodes def. Santino Marella and Trevor Murdoch at around 10 minutes when Hardcore pinned Santino with the Alabama Slam finisher. I was rooting for Spark Plugg and his shenanigans. I also told Holly he had rookies in the parking lot to no avail. Fun match, and a good end to the first half of the show.

Jillian Hall comes down and "sings" for us. Let me tell you something, the telly DOES NOT, and I repeat, DOES NOT, do Jillian's screeching voice justice. Dreadful would be putting it nicely. JBL would then soon come out, kick Jillian out of the ring, and berate us all. He then demands a ref so...
Match 7: JBL def. Drew McIntyre by the Clothesline from Hell finisher. Putrid match that saw JBL put in his power with Drew doing very few moves of offense.
Match 8: Triple H def. Kennedy with the Pedigree at around 12 minutes. The entrances and the post-match made this feel a HELL of a lot longer, so match time is approximate. Kennedy fed off the crowd well with his knowledge of how many smarks are in the Northeastern crowds. Kennedy and Trips also had a contest to see who would get a better reaction. Guess who won that one? Anyways, Kennedy worked over Trips' left shoulder for much of the contest, and then Trips came back and it was all over. Trips posed and hugged a fan afterwards.
Match 9 and main event: Randy Orton retained the WWE Championship by defeating Jeff Hardy with the RKO at 9 minutes or so. This match felt like a "rough draft" so to speak for whats to come at the Rumble. Jeff hit all of his high spots, but Randy got the final laugh with the RKO. There must have been Diva handbags working for him. Post-match saw Randy try to kick in Jeff's head, but Jeff countered, and hit the Twist of Fate and Swanton consecutively to the delight of the aforementioned six-year-olds.
Good show. Felt fast-paced and the crowd was into it, no matter how crappy some parts may have been.
Top 3 Cheers:
1. Triple H
2. Jeff Hardy
3. Super Crazy
Top 3 Boos:
1. Randy Orton
2. JBL
3. Kennedy
And another parking garage story: Getting out of the third floor, lots of near-wrecks happened. Including a Chevy 1500K forcibly getting in the line to get out and almost hitting my car. All in all though, it was fun. No regrets, and a happy birthday to my brother.
