If I remember correctly, they did a very similar storyline with Goldberg in WCW in 2000. If Goldberg lost he was done and at the Sin Pay Per View, he jobbed to Buff Bagwell. That was Goldberg's last match in WCW. I believe they were building up to his return at the May "Big Bang" PPV; the PPV that never happened.

They did the same thing with Curt Hennig in late 99, only it was if he lost by pinfall or submission and he ended up losing to Buff Bagwell, but during his farewell speech, he turned heel on Bagwell and joined the Powers That Be.

I remember Curt Hennig then got into a feud with "Perfection" Shawn Stasiak. Curt lost the match and he wasn't seen after that.

wait, does this mean that Buff Bagwell is the career ender?
Should we worry if Flair is booked against Bagwell?

I like Flair's storyline right now. If his career is going to end at Wrestlemania 24, I think Batista's going to end up being the one to do it. It'd be the perfect time to turn him into a heel by turning on his friend and mentor from Evolution. I think it'd be a great storyline to turn Batista into a monter heel and he'd get crazy heat for it too. Other than Vince, he's the first person I thought of that could possibly end Flair's career.

It wasn't a retirement feud though, he lost a match to him at Slamboree, then for some odd reason the next night he helps him to win a match and is never seen again.
