As many of you know I haven't watched RAW or WWE in general in years except for the horrifying tribute show, but I'm not here to talk about that. I just watched the latest new years eve show (isn't the internet kick ass? you can catch any show any time) and I have to say I was impressed. The show held my attention and was decent and for the first time in a very long time a WWE program didn't insult my intelligence.
Notes
- Randy Orton and Jeff Hardy are boring. Although I like both in the ring. It's surprising to me that these are the top guys.
- The Kennedy Vs. HBK match was fantastic and good on the WWE to actually have a decent match near the beginning of the program. I dig both HBK and Kennedy and while I admit Kennedy's character is kind of stale, the guy can go in the ring.
- Vince McMahon and William Regal make a great duo and play well off each other. Vince still cracks me up.
- The JBL intro was awesome and perfectly done. I admit I marked out when Jericho's music hit. I'm not up on wrestling but isn't JBL a rip off the Million Dollar Man?
- I generally hate women's wrestling and think it's just a cheap gimmick to kill time and give erections to male fans who don't know any better. However, the triple threat between Melina, Beth Pheonix, and Mickie James wasn't bad. I think Lawler got through the whole match without saying something completely stupid as well. Beth Pheonix looks like a character from WoW... not that I play it *ahem*
- Hornswoggle is Vince's illegitimate child? What the f***? ...No seriously... what the f***? This Hornswoggle V. Regal match is horrible. What the f*** was that about? Boooooo
- Santino Marella is a f***ing great heel, the guy cracks me up and can go in the ring. Count me a Santino mark. Jeff Hardy as a face annoys me deeply.
The Flair/Triple H match was great. I respect both men but neither are my favorite but it was cool just to see two legends go at it and to hear the crowd popping and all into it. Ric Flair can't really go anymore, Triple H was being so soft with him that the match looked just off to me but I mean I understand can forgive that. I can't believe Flair finally landed a move from the top rope, I don't think that's happened in at least a decade. The swerve ending with Regal and the brass knucks was lame and you can see it coming from a mile away but I'll forgive it for the decent match.
All in all it was a pretty good card, I was surprised.
