ECW on Sci Fi last night scored a 1.2 cable rating, same as last week. The show had a total of 1,488,000 viewers.

Actually...it's not that big a shock that Edge didn't bump the ratings. They actually lost ratings when he won the World Title from Taker (The big "surprise" that was...)
Still, it disappoints me. The show is much better than the ratings suggest.

Meh, not that surprised. There's no real sense of urgency to watch the show and having seen some of the clips online, it's not that big of a deal if you miss it.

It probably didn't help by announcing that they were having the same main event for the third straight week, and then making it seem like Edge had left after the opening segment. Plus there were 3 straight one sided matches in the middle of the show, which weren't exactly must see TV.

At least they get more than TNA. And they only had to lose half their audience, their PPVs, house shows, and any semblance of individuality to do it. What a goal to shoot for.... ...No, I'm not bitter.

3 squashes and the same main event for the 3rd consecutive week. Awesome. ... Meh. Morrison and Miz are accepting all comers. Delaney has a story behind him. Shelton was the only true squash that probably could have been used for something else. Also, I'd take a repeat match that is good compared to a new main event that isn't that good. That's how I look at it.

Well, whatever individuals may think of the mini-brand, the current format is not working. Something needs to change. Otherwise, as terrible as this rating is, it could get even worse.

I honestly don't see where the 1.2 rating is all that bad for ECW. When the ratings were significantly higher was during ECW's initial rebirth, which was during the summer of 2006.
The summer peak is important to note because ECW runs directly across from Law and Order: SVU. I know people normally criticize a person for making excuses when bringing up competition, but this is one that should be taken into account.
Whenever people talk about Raw's rating being higher than whatever show they, themselves, are making an excuse for, one thing that is cited is USA's heavy advertising of RAW during its non-wrestling programming. USA's higest-rated year-round program other than RAW is SVU. Since USA pubs RAW so much during SVU, it would indicate that USA execs have found that many of their RAW viewers, and perhaps target demographic, also watch SVU. Furthermore, it would seem likely that those viewers, who watch endless hours of SVU repeats, would be inclined to watch the 1 hour of new SVU each week on Tuesday instead of the 1/7 of first-run wrestling programming that is on opposite.
Finally, I disagree with the poster who said things could get significantly worse if things don't change, unless he means dropping to a 1.0. As evidenced by TNA and old ECW, you could put two animals in a wrestling ring, run it on cable and you are guaranteed no lower than a 0.9. That is pretty much the basement rating for pro wrestling on cable in a primetime slot.
