Hopefully the LSU Athletic Deparment would consider naming something in John's honor.

I think its kinda sad that they just took the AP story that every other newspaper outlet has. Shame on you LSU.

Semper Fi, Erik Majorwitz Yeah I could see maybe campus gym or weight training center being named after him or maybe the wrestling arena. Maybe we crappers could start a campaign to have LSU name something in honor of Quake.

I just e-mailed the LSU AD about renaming their Strength and Conditioning Center the John Tenta Memorial Strengh and Conditioning Center. I think if all of us write, email, call etc. LSU we will have a chance for this, because the S&C center currently is not named after anyone. Click on the link at this top of this page and then go to departments, adminstration and finally Skip Bertman to get to the ADs e-mail

I like a sporting event idea. TENTA BOWL just has so much appeal.

When I went to school in the summer the college newspaper (which sucked at Toledo by the way) went on the same during the summer. They could have found a student or teacher to write a decent tribute if they had wanted to. At least they did a tribute, but this was flimsy considering how great Tenta was. Nothing will be named after Tenta. Colleges in America and especially their athletic departments are corporations out to make money now. Unless you donate a ton of money or bring in a ton of money in another way they do not care about you. I bet this AP reprint article we have here is all we get from them in tribute to the late great Tenta.

I disagree slightly with the point there is no chance of LSU naming anything after John Tenta. I think it is a long shot, but I think there could be an outside chance of LSU renaming a campus gym or there weight training center. I live in a Universty town, here the basketball/hockey arena is named after a big cash donor and the football stadium is named after the Civil War traning camp that the stadium was built on. However most of the training facilties or student athletic clubs are either named after alumni or their location. So while I think it woundn't be possible to have a large sports venue named after John Tenta, a campus gym or training facility doesn't seem that far a stretch to me. At least in the realm of what could be possible.

Chances are there will be either a wrestling room or weight room named for him, since those are the things that reflect what he did at LSU.
