yeah i said in the HOF thread Im assuming the only reason they're inducting two mid carders like Johnson and Maivia is to get Rocky to show at Mania and maybe sell a few tix to the HOF ceremony.
Im still guessing he Rock Bottom's Santino.

Don't get ahead of yourself there, buddy. He will likely be in attendance at Mania if only to see his dad paraded out in front of the audience, but there's a damn good chance he won't be doing anything. He's been fairly adamant about that.

But High Chief Peter Maivia was an incredibly important wrestler in the 60's and 70's. He was a god and legend to the Samoan and Hawaiian people, and popularized pro wrestling in Samoa. He was incredibly over in California as well. He is as important to the history of wrestling as Gagne in his territory, Sammartino in the WWWF, and Harley Race in the NWA. He was much more than "some midcarder" A

He was much more than "some midcarder" A While Peter Miavia may have brought in that hard to get Samon demographic of viewers the soul reason he's being inducted into the HOF is the fact the WWE wants his grandson there for star power this weekend. He was pretty good, popular I've seen some of his work through second and third hand tapes, mainly WWWF stuff. I don't have a great deal of Australian and New Zealand wrestling in my library. But for those wrestling fans who actually know who he is, its because hes The Rock's grandfather.

WWE's putting him in to get The Rock to show face around 'Mania. And that's a damn shame, because he more than deserves to be in there on his own merit. Hell, I wish he wasn't sharing the induction with Rocky Johnson. The High Chiefs importance to wrestling in California, Hawaii, Samoa, etc is something that seems to all to often forgotten in todays day and age. Although, so are alot of things. Also, Destuicity, you had a good point about him headlining MSG as well.

Look the guy has some solid acheivements, and I dont question his popularity in the South Pacific and west coast, I'm just saying that 99.9% of the reason he's being inducted into the HOF is because they want his grandson at the event. I guess a part of me for some reason i sure as hell dont understand wants to pretend the HOF is legit.
