It's simple, The Rock gave us great moments, he was in wrestling for 8 years and was a great character.
To say "he gives nothing back" is ludicrous plain and simple. If he was still around everyone would talk about how he was stale and annoying. I remember when no one appreciated him all that much in his hey day cause they saw him every week. The Rock used the business to further his career even beyond wrestling. Most wrestlers let the business use and abuse them till they are left with nothing other than broken bodies and drug addictions.
I applaud Rock for being a smart man, everyone else that was in Rocks position would do the same thing. Basically what Cena is telling you is "I'm a mark for the WWE, wrestling, Vince and myself, Rock treated it as a business nothing more and didn't allow it to abuse him or chew him up and spit him out.

I'm moving on, the hypocrisy here is baffling. I'm done. WOW, and you're a moderator on this board! I can't say I see the hypocrisy.. anyway, as many has already stated, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson did the smart thing. The Rock not renewing his contract at the peak of his wrestling career and venture on to other projects (in which he already had a good chance at doing well at) was the smartest move he could have ever done. I mean look at us, the fans, we're always saying we'd want The Rock back. I just want to get a link to an article, tv apperance, radio show, or something, where the Rock is disrespectful to the wrestling business. Cause I can't say I've seen him blast the industry in any way, in any of the interviews I've seen/read/heard with him. His contract was up, WWE and him chose to split. Fair deal. He doesn't owe WWE anything. He gave the WWE what they needed when he was there.

John Cena would lay the seeds for a possible match with The Rock on a website in the UK?? Thats ridiculous. If it was kayfabe, Cena would have just said the statements on WWE.com. At least on an interview in America.

I would love to have the Rock back. However, I understand that the life of hollywood is ten times better than the life of a professional wrestler. If I were in the Rock's situation, I cant say that I would not take the path he took. I would say that I would not get rid of the nickname "The Rock" because no matter how he tries, Dwayne Johnson is not a name that can sell movies. However, until John Cena and others are in the same boat the Rock was in, I dont think it is their place to call the Rock a sell-out.

Its easier for Cena to come out say he should bend backwards for the fans... Cena hasnt had the top spot for as long as Rock did... and wrestling is Cena's bread and butter, because I dont think he will get any movie roles not produced my WWE. someone like him needs to... Cena is nowhere near the heights of the popularity of the Rock. The Rock had the fans in the palm of his hands whether he was a Heel or Face and he was a great champion. Cena hasn't and I dont think he will ever have what the Rock had. Why should the Rock come back?? He finished his last contract and didnt re-sign... WWE made the mistake of not announcing his official departure. he didnt pull a Austin or Lesnar and just walk out... the business goes on without him.... New stars are money makers and the focal point... I can understand if every week the crowd is chanting his name and Rock signs are still littering the crowd... but they arent... and this is what the Rock WANTS, to retire from wrestling and make the name Dwayne Johnson to be connected with Movies. bottom line: He did his job and did it damn well... he now has a new job and wants to excel at that. its like a younger basketball player with a new championship ring talking down a older BETTER basketball player with alot more championship rings who retired on top of his game to do something something better. get to where he got and set yourself up for the opportunities he did and then talk and see how the world looks from those eyes.

The gall of the Rock! Not wanting to stick around into his 50s like Flair and Hogan until he's a crappy shell of his former self! I don't blame The Rock for doing his own thing. He doesn't work for WWE anymore. I'm not going back to my last job and helping them out.

To add an interesting spin, read this description: A guy joined WWE and had a fantastic career, won championships, main evented PPVs, and was extremely over with the fans. Even to this day, they still talk about him. Like him or not - he made a huge impression on wrestling. But now he's moved on, wants to try to achieve success in another field. Wreslting was a chapter in his book, and he's moved on to the next one. How come when this statement is applied to The Rock, people wish him well, but when applied to the Ultimate Warrior, he is seen as a traitor, a scumbag and an ungrateful SOB? I'm no Warrior mark, I just fail to see past the double standards here. I think the different type of human being both men are have a lot more to do with it in that case. Rock's never been known as a backstage problem, bad businessman, quite frankly poor human being. Warrior would no show, apparently had the attitude of a prick, and compare him talking about wrestling and WWE after he was done to what Rock has to say. There are your differences. For example, Warrior went AWOL just days beofre the Survivor Series of which he was to be in the main event. Rock never did that.

"That's very humbling to hear about the voting results" said Johnson. "I believe all the wrestlers and people who are in and close to the business all know how much I love the business, and realize that there was no more challenges or possibilities to grow. I should preface, the intelligent people understand that. The goofs, not so much."-Last Year after being inducted into the Observer Hall of Fame

Rock at least "seems" to be pretty intelligent and well rounded. That being said I'm sure he respects the business for feeding him as a child, helping put him through school and giving him a break into the spotlight/sticking with him when it seemed like he was a flash int he pan. But not wanting to do any more "wrestling" stuff shouldnt bother anyone. Im not sure how many Bodybuilding enthusiasts scoffed at Shwartzeneggar for not wanting to do bodybuilding exhibitions during the peak of his Terminator films.
Its all speculation of course, but it's his past and hes apparently moved on.

It totally matters, it's the number one man in wrestling today? He is bad mouthing the number one man in wrestling yesterday!!!
I acctuly see his point, but I disagree with it at the same time.
I bet the Rock still loves wrestling, he probably gets lowballed when they ask him to come back though.
Seriously if your going to pay Mayweather 20 million, you could stratch him off and pay it to the Rock instead.
That way get back the millions of viewers you lost and bring in the millions of people that have now seen his movies.
When he left they seemed to kind of not care about him anyways, and the WWE really did it all themselves over this matter. In the HHH days I mean when they could have resigned him and instead did not even talk to him for over a year when he was still contracted.
That and other related things means I think he has issue with the WWE and until it's resolved the most we will see is the Hall of Fame.

Ok, because you originally said The Rock. If you originally meant Austin then you're right. WWE did just fine without Austin from fall 1999-fall 2000 so that couldnt possibly been it. Nice try. So it just HAD to be The Rock then. You need to figure out what your point is before you argue it to me.

Either Cena is a complete dolt who is incapable of seeing things from The Rock's perspective, or he is a spineless company shill who is no different than Brisco. If John Cena dropped dead in the ring tomorrow, Vince wouldnt give a damn. He would nudge his body out of the ring maybe clean the blood up if theres any,and bring out the next match. There is no way I could allow my core beliefs to be cast aside to become an ass kisser. Thats why I will always respect Warrior and RVD no matter how racist Warrior is and no matter how many drugs Rob takes.

Warrior's a racist? I just thought he was a homophobe. There was a time where Warrior told a black guy to go choke on a banana, him making fun of the New Orleans refugees blaming THEM for Katrina, telling an Iranian to take the towel off of his head, praising slave owner George Washington as a "God and a Warrior" while basically saying that Martin Luther King was a nobody and undeserving of a holiday. Among other things of course.

I'd like to add that one time I was reading this blog and he said he couldn't get something to work on his Mac. I seriously pictured him beating the shit out of it yelling "damn infernal machine!"
