I was looking forward to seeing him as a face. In all my years watching wrestling, I've only seen him play the heel who hits people with guitars. Back in his WCCW (not WCW) days he was the top face alongside Kerry Von Eric. Still used the guitar, but seemed somehow blonder. ...I gotta buy that DVD. Good stuff.

Dudes seriously we do not do not do not want JJ back wrestling in TNA. It may sound good now because he isn't effecting his will all over the NWA/TNA belt but rest assured if he comes back he'll take his turn as the "TNA" champ because he was only a 107 time NWA champ. If we complain about Angle hoarding the belt lets just remember that Jarret did it for the first 3 years of TNA's existance. WE DON"T WANT OR NEED JJ!!!!!

Then when he comes back everybody will be groaning about him holding down all the young talent or hogging TV time. The internet fans got their wish. He's gone now grin and bear it.

I'm actually really glad he took this much time off, if he is coming back.
Think about it, JJ is meant to be a heel. How can you a boo a guy after seeing that his wife died? I think we were all kinda shocked after that video montage they showed.

Jarrett was a face in WCW for a while. He was horrible in the role.

Jarrett was a face in WCW for a while. He was horrible in the role. Yeah, that's what I mean. Even in the rare cases he goes face, he ALWAYS ends up going heel again at some point because he just can't do the face thing at all.

They say a wrestler's best role is always an exaggeration of his true self. Perhaps Jarrett's a major a**hole in real life, which is why he can't play the face? He's always seemed like a legit nice guy to me, though.

I just remember the last time he was in TNA as a face for his feud with Robert Roode. He blasted Ms. Brooks with a guitar to the delight of the fans and West and Tenay. As a matter of fact, I believe they even yelled "hit her Jeff!!!". Flash forward a few months and Robert Roode is a huge prick for accidentily punching Sharmell in the face.
The moral of the story, male on female violence in wrestling...only cool when the face does it.

I gotta say I did get tired of JJ dominating the TNA heavyweight division a couple of years ago, but looking at things there weren't too many guys around that could take the belt from him. I was a fan of him when he was in WWF, so I wouldn't mind seeing him return. I just don't think he's good enough to lead a company. A good heel, but shouldn't be holding the belt for too long.

I think that TNA needs a huge dose of Jeff right now, to take away from half the screen time of Angle.
I don't really mind Angle, and I never minded Jeff they just have been written on to many things. So if they are around at the same time maybe they will split time on the tv.

He's always seemed like a legit nice guy to me, though. The only thing I've ever heard about Jarrett was that he was a nice guy. Sometimes people take issue with the way he runs the company, but they generally don't say he's a jerk. I think some people are just better at doing certain things. I think as a babyface, Jarrett's got this bland, Southern do-gooder thing going about him. But as a heel, he's dynamic and interesting.

Jarrett might well be off screen for some time. If he returns he should remain in the upper midcard. Angle, Joe and Christian are the top guys at the moment and they are damn fine. Although really like and respect Jarrett I don't want him to main event anytime soon.

Even in the rare cases he goes face, he ALWAYS ends up going heel again at some point because he just can't do the face thing at all. Yeah, he can. Jarrett was a face from his debut in 1986 straight through 1993, and he was way over in Memphis, second only to Lawler. His first ever run as a heel was actually when he debuted in WWF as "Double J" in 1993-94-ish. He definitely knows how to play what Cornette calls a "classic Southern babyface", it's just sort of annoying to some if/when he's portrayed like that now, since everyone knows he owns the company. His WCW face run in 1996-97-ish was doomed, because you couldn't get over as a face during the NWO era as a geeky Tennessee dude with a bad accent, a bad Farrah Fawcett haircut, a silver outfit with suspenders, and coupled with the annoying Debra McMichael. His TNA face runs have been doomed because everyone knows he's pushing himself. But once upon a time, he was a solid babyface.
