what's he doing these days? I thought he was a huge part of the company. I know he took time off after the tragic death of his wife, but is he ever coming back?

I think Jeff realizes there isn't really a place for him in TNA right now - everyone important is tied up in feuds and there wouldn't be much for him to do.
I do see Jeff coming back sometime this year, though.

I think one of the main questions is, under what capacity will he come back? He can't really do the whole "Planet Jarrett" top-heel thing he was doing before, because TNA's top heels are now Angle and Christian. I hope he doesn't do a "savior" type face gimmick, because I don't think Jarrett can do a face for very long. He was good in a short burst in that Robert Roode feud, but he's just such a good heel.

Shark Boy never woke from his coma and Jarrett took up the mantle, hence the sudden winning

He'll be back sometime this year, but I wouldn't say anytime soon.

Ironically enough, lots of people despise TNA now, as compared to when Double J was around. I think Jeff should come back the way he did before, where he was a guy to help guys coming up get established and put them to the next level, as he is a big name TNA star.

He looked like he was ready to come back and start "doing the right thing" when he had the mini-feud with Robert Roode. In fact, even before then, during his last title reign, they finally started booking him the way he should've been booked all along: more like a Ric Flair kind of heel, who needs the cheap tactics and the help of a stable to prevent himself from losing all his power in the company, and less like HHH-lite.
But the death of his wife obviously sidetracked all that, and with damn good reason.

But Christian seems to be more a face now. So Angle and Styles really are the top two heels now.

He'd be a good suprise tag partner or mystery opponent.

I was looking forward to seeing him as a face. In all my years watching wrestling, I've only seen him play the heel who hits people with guitars.

If I'm not mistaken last update on this I remember hearing is that he has no intention of coming back to active wrestling anytime soon. He's just focusing on his behind the scenes responsibilities

I remember the days when all people had to complain about was Jeff Jarrett. How they must long for those days now! He was the reason TNA sucked. He was the reason people didn't want to buy PPVs. He was the reason people changed the channel during Impact! His brief face run in early/mid 2007 when he teamed with Angle, Sting, Joe & Rhino then aided Eric Young in his feud with Robert Roode was actually when TNA was cranking out some of it's strongest material (generally speaking) all year (electrified/blindfold cage matches aside).

The show actually does seem better when Jarrett is an active wrestler.

I would like to see him in an authority type role. Either alongside or instead of Cornette.
