These seem to be our two major contenders for 2008's WWE match of the year.
The polls are open. Your vote matters.

Taker & Edge as I honestly didn't think much of the Flair/Michaels match itself.

In terms of actual match quality, it's got to be Undertaker vs. Edge - HIAC. That s*** was simply AMAZING!

Flair/Michaels = A poignant story told with an incredibly emotional match.
Edge/Taker = A retarded spotfest.
Naitch and Heartbreak by a mile.

The Flair/Michaels match has it topped for pure emotion alone. Just my opinion, Edge/Taker was awesome, yes, but it seemed almost like weapons for the sake of weapons, which is cool, but I don't think it told as awesome a story. The ending spot with Taker doing to Edge everything that Edge did to him over the last 15 months was f***ing brilliant, though.

The fact that this poll is nearly tied is a a shame on Flairs legacy, that match was fantastic.

Edge Taker Hell in a Cell
I thought we were going to get an excellent match, and it exceeded expectations. They also told a good story in the match, Edge was psychotic and doing what it took to win, and Taker was getting revenge for everything Edge did to him.

Nobody questions Flair's legacy. I question the fact that I just witnessed a truly great hell in a cell match as opposed to a pretty good Flair vs Michaels match.

Just my opinion, Edge/Taker was awesome, yes, but it seemed almost like weapons for the sake of weapons, which is cool, but I don't think it told as awesome a story. The ending spot with Taker doing to Edge everything that Edge did to him over the last 15 months was smurfing brilliant, though. I think the story was great. Edge tried to mess with Taker's head early, which never works with the king of mindgames, so Taker took advantage and took out a ton of aggression on Edge. Edge eventually got the upperhand, realized he wasn't going to win playing Taker's game, so he tried to play his own game by getting his specialty involved, tables, ladders, and chairs. After that didn't work, Edge just threw everything at Taker he had...spears through the cell, spears through the table, etc. After that didn't work, the two went back and forth for awhile. Edge's cockiness came out, Taker took advantage by chokeslamming him through the tables...and then took out 10 months of pent-up anger on Edge and killed him. Seems like a good story to me :shrugs:

I voted for Taker-Edge HIAC because the Flair-Michaels match, while it had much more in terms of a storyline, wasn't as dramatic IMO.

Edge/Taker, for me
Flair/HBK was a good match, but Edge/Taker had the best buildup and intensity.
Don't get mad, but I never really liked watching Flair wrestle

I thought Flair/Michaels was anti climatic, slow and run of the mill. I thought Edge/Taker didnt live up to their great Mania match. So they both suck

For a spot-fest this HIAC was tame. There was nothing new in it with Edge playing the role of HBK from 97 except there was nothing really dramatic or historic. The HBK/Flair match will always be remembered...this HIAC? What will we remember it for? There was no Foley like bump. There was no dramatic intro of a character like Kane. It was not a horrible match, but it wasn't even close to the best HIAC match.

Both were excellent, but I personally enjoyed Flair/HBK more.

IMO, the HIAC and Flair-HBK are about even...but I'd take Edge-Taker's WM match and Edge-Taker's TLC match over either of them

I don't think either are match of the year worthy.
