In this topic, we discuss what the best "real" bands were which have done wrestling themes.
Personally, I'd say Metallica. Sting's WCW theme was killer, and ECW wouldn't be the same without Enter Sandman.
Points go to Disturbed though. Heel Austin just wouldn't have been the same without Glass Shatters.
What do the 'Crappers think here?

Motorhead. Aside from Triple H, didn't the Sandman use their Enter Sandman cover?

Metallica did sting's WCW theme? Yea, Metallica did one of Sting's WCW themes. Seek and Destroy, I think that's what it was called.

Whoever did RVD's theme was really good. The next two aren't bands, but I thought Run DMC and Method Man did a great job with their versions of DX and Rock's themes.

Real bands? Like Rick Derringer?!
Real American is the greatest piece of wrestling music ever contrived.

I'm going with Derringer too, because I only count songs that were specifically written as Wrestling Themes, to actually be themes.
I find it hard to believe that 18 years ago James Hetfield was writing "Enter Sandman" and said "Ya know, Lars? This would make a great Wrestling theme!"

Real bands? Like Rick Derringer?! Real American is the greatest piece of wrestling music ever contrived. You are absolutely correct. Derringer's music has stood the test of time. Fun Fact: His birth place is only about 15 miles away from my hometown, and parts of his original band (The McCoys) were from my hometown (where my father actually listened to the drummer on his front porch back in the '60s).

The ECW theme, Huka Blues (Sabu's theme) and the bWo theme were all great. Tazz's theme was good too.

Derringer by ten thousand miles...
As awesome as Motorhead are, they just performed the themes.
Metallica & others probably got a crapload of money for the rights, so that doesn't count as an actual "wrestling theme". If we count regular music used as theme, then Richard Strauss should win. Or Beethoven...

Whoever did RVD's theme was really good... The ECW one was a Pantera song I think, and when he made the jump to WWF, he got a soundalike, and the current one is a mod of that soundalike.

I wouldn't really count the Chris Warren band.
They haven't done anything that memorable since the DX Theme.
Hell, until DX went under they were "The DX Band".

MOTORHEAD OWNS ALL!!!! some wrestlers used selected songs off ofbands' albums but as far as a "real " band doing someone's ring entrance song:MOTORHEAD!!!
Sting used a live version of the Metallica classic "Seek & Destroy which is off their first album. Rumor has it when Sting wrestled in Japan he used Laaz Rockit's "Fire In The Hole" as his ring entrance music because he appears in their music video for that song.Check it out here:

I wouldn't really count the Chris Warren band. They haven't done anything that memorable since the DX Theme. Hell, until DX went under they were "The DX Band". And DX is an iconic wrestling theme of the Attitude Era, much like how "Real American" is an iconic wrestling theme of the Rock n' Wrestling era. Plus they are admittedly the only band famous FOR making a wrestling entrance theme, and not famous beforehand.

Keep in mind, Sting using Seek and Destroy...uh, that was released in 1981 on Metallica's first album.
But I gotta go with Motorhead. Line in the Sand (Evolution's theme) is still one of my favorite songs ever, not just from wrestling themes.
