Hall is just one of those guys whose stats make him look better then he is. He makes to many mistakes, especially mentally.

Unless Springs is injured more than we know, the signing of Hall makes minimal sense.
Actually, nevermind. Dan Snyder owns the Skins, it makes perfect sense.
Zorn hasn't been tested from the locker room standpoint of the HC position. That changes now.

Makes perfect sense to me. Springs is always hurt, Rogers can't catch a cold and Smoot is injury prone.
You know who our 4th corner is? Leigh Torrence.
And it's a low risk/high reward signing. Are you kidding me? It's a good deal. Plus Blache is the defensive coordinator and he will give you an earful. Not to mention that Zorn has already butted heads with guys like Portis so he's not afraid to speak up. Then you've got Fletcher and Taylor on defense as the leaders. If Hall screws up, it won't be because of the Redskins.

If Hall screws up, it won't be because of the Redskins. Hall is on the level of TO as far as douchebag-ery goes. That and, to be blunt, he's not really that great of a player and has made a career out of his 40 times. He may fit the system Washington has going and its a low impact move as far as salary considerations are concerned, but the fact a team like the Cowboys didn't go after him (and believe me, if Jerrah wanted him, he'd be in Big D right now) speaks volumes. Again, could work out and everything's fine (allowing WAS covers him in a zone system) or he continues what he's done his entire career, freelances (Lavar Arrington ring a bell?) and mouths off on the side. History seems to indicate one thing, but this is a wake up call. He was a cancer in ATL and they shipped him off. He was a cancer in OAK and they didn't even wait a season to ship him off. Personally, I don't think we'll be talking about it much further. I don't think he'll have a major impact one way or another. Also, chemistry is a major concern in DC and has been for years.

Domrep, if you think Hall is low risk you haven't watched Hall much. I've had the pleasure of seeing him often. Even when he's winning a battle versus a receiver on the field (which isn't nearly as often as it's made out to be), he can still lose mentally.
Last year comes to mind in a game where he covered Steve Smith very well, but Smith got in his head SO bad that Hall cost his team something like 50-70 yards in penalties giving the Panthers a game winning TD drive single handedly. On top of that in that same game he even got in the faces of officials and his own coaches and teamates all game long after his mental breakdown occured.

I'm giving him a chance.
Randy Moss was a "douchebag" in Oakland as well, and look how well he's doing in New England.
Hall was coached by Bobby Petrino last year, the same guy who bolted the NFL back to college with a handful of regular season games remaining.
So the question I ask is this, is it Hall, or is it the environment he's been in?
Just to add to this: Greg Blache, Jerry Gray and Jim Zorn all consulted with each other on whether to make the move. They all approved.
London Fletcher and Cornelius Griffin were consulted, they approved.
If there's one thing Gibbs did right was to bring in leaders, and Hall will be surrounded by several of them.

Don't get me wrong Demrop. I'm not saying it can't work. I'm just saying it's not low risk by any means.
This reminds me of Dallas putting all their faith in Pac-Man to be honest with you. I told everyone that even if he did behave, he is quite over rated on the field.

Whatever happened to the report that the Skins only had 1 mil in cap room in August?
How much did they pay for Alexander?

I see him sitting in a dark room in a command chair, Vinnie Cerrato drooling into a bucket to his left, Tom Cruise jumping on a couch to his right, making free agent decisions based upon player's ratings in Madden NFL football. Snyder: "DeAngelo Hall is a floppin' 95 Vinnie, go get him!" Basically he's a mini-version of Jerrah Jones, both in stature and mental facilities.

Whatever happened to the report that the Skins only had 1 mil in cap room in August? How much did they pay for Alexander? Same thing as always, they restructure contracts, guarantee the money upfront, but spread the cap hit associated with them out over a longer period of time and get enough room to add a few players. It helps them squeek under the salary cap and have enough room to sign a few pieces here and there, but they're handcuffed to the current roster and continue to get older in key positions.

49ers signed WR Dominique Zeigler and waived T Kirk Barton. I hope he makes sure to go around their locker room, shaking everyone's hand and introducing himself.

Welp, bye week, so at least Dallas can't make me curse at them today.. for on-field stuff at any rate.
