The NFC East is for the Giants to lose. The Cowboys are still in limbo. The Eagles, even in a win, had a lot more trouble than necessary with the Falcons and were a blown call from maybe losing and the Skins almost did the unthinkable in losing to the Lions. Say what you will about the Giants "easy schedule", they've won the games they're supposed to. I'm going to make our Panther fans on the board happy and go on and say this.... The NFC East isn't as great as it was made out to be. That's not to say its not good, but I think there will only be a division winner and one Wild Card, the South is too good. Even the Giants, current division leaders, have major and exploitable flaws and these teams aren't running rough shed over teams that were made out to be inferior or playing in "lesser" divisions. The Skins seem to be uncomfortable with success and are one injury on either line from being in major trouble, the Boys are a mess, Philly is a hit and miss team and the Giants don't have their defense of last year. Will be interesting, but it's going to involve the entire NFC, not just the NFC East like many had thought.

It is interesting how 'down to earth' all of the East teams have come since like a month ago, when conventional wisdom had it at least three teams would make the playoffs.

And realistically, if the Packers turn it around and the Bears can continue to play well, it is theoretically possible the East could only have one playoff team depending on how it shakes out.
This season in the NFL there really isn't one "dominant" team. Even the Titans, who still haven't lost, have still to be tested, but could get there in the next couple weeks when they face the meat of their schedule.

Also, Mike Singletary is going to be a good head coach. He actually...get ready for this....held players accountable and sent Vernon Davis to the showers when he got a stupid penalty that cost the team and yanked JT O'Sullivan for not performing. He then went on to tear Davis apart at the podium after the game and seemed to not let him rest on his draft status any longer. He's not working with much, but showing he had the intestinal fortitude to hold players accountable is much needed in the current landscape.

It'll be interesting to see if Singletary gets his deserved shot after the rest of the season.

The only problem is I don't know if he'll want it to be with the 49ers, especially since they will basically hire an interim coach next season so that way in 2010 they can load up that truck full of cash and back it into Mike Holmgren's front yard.

Pretty much, but maybe this'll give him a decent 'audition' for a quality team that's looking for a head coach.

He could probably work great in Minnesota, where it seems like they need a swift kick in the ass to get things right.

It'll be interesting to see if Singletary gets his deserved shot after the rest of the season. If not with the Niners than he will with someone else. He has been one of hot assistants since his days with the Ravens. He only really stayed with San Fran because of some loyalty to Nolan.

The funny thing is I was talking to Insomniac about this about a month ago. I told him then I didn't buy into the hype and that I didn't think three teams from one division would make it. I told him there was to much equality in the league this year and that it's just such a hard feat to have happen even if it did happen already. That's not to say it can't or won't happen this year still, but I just never thought it would.

But the niners really need a QB in this years draft.

He suspended the best player on the team (and one of the best recievers in the league) for two games to start off the year against two tough opponents. He also cut an offseason FA pick up in a position we needed depth at for getting a DUI two days before final cuts. *starts to go to the light* MUST.... RESIST.

You know, I actually like the unpredictability that this season has been offering. It's showing MUCH more so that once big names go down, everyone is gonna have to step up and play like an actual .... you know, team. The Titans have been impressive but I'm not ready to ink anything in at this point even with the level of their play. At this point the only playoff-guaranteed team I see is Arizona, and that's more on how their divisional opponents are doing ... If only OAK wasn't headed for another Top 10 pick. It'd be nice to be in on the fun

You know who I felt bad for?
All the London fans that were probably thinking "What in the hell?" when the Saints pulled their little intentional safety stunt.

The Cowboys do not anticipate having CB Anthony Henry (quadriceps) in Week 9 against the Giants.
