So I go to play my DS, and the thing flips open with alarming quickness and lays almost perpendicular to the bottom screen with disturbing looseness. I looked a bit closer, and noticed that the hinge had partially cracked, and I can't get it to set back into place. Now the good news is, it still works. But for how long at this rate, I dunno. Makes me wonder if this is a sign that I should shell out for the new DS when it comes out. It has no GBA port, but I do still have a Game Boy Micro if it comes to that, I guess. Still...

New DS's won't have GBA ports? WHY NOT? I'm still pissed that I can't play my regular Game-Boy games on the thing. Now if I ever have to buy a new one it won't even play my GBA games?

The new DS model in Japan, the Nintendo DSi has no GBA slot. The screens are bigger and WAY brighter, and everything in general is a little bigger. The DSi also has a built in camera and SD Card slot. However the battery life is like 3 hours less than either the DS Phat or DS Lite. Also, the DSi will have its own version of WiiWare in that developers can develop games for a small online store that the DSi can access. No word of yet if it'll have its own version of a Virtual Console or not. However, since Nintendo is taking away the backwards compatibility, I strongly think Nintendo should make a Virtual Console for the DSi that allows us to download old GameBoy, GameBoy Color, GameBoy Advanced, GameGear, and Lynx games. Also, the DSi will be in America within a year or so.

The DSi launched in Japan back in November, and won't be reaching here in the States until April at the very earliest. As for you, Soundwave: if you have an original DS, upgrade to the DS Lite. If you have a Lite, get it repaired or possibly replaced.

Any DS being sold here right now will have the GBA slot.

If the DSi does in fact have it's own version of WiiWare and possibly it's own Virtual Console, I may just wait for that one. Like I said, I still have a functioning Game Boy Micro I can play my GBA games on.
As for my DS Lite, I think I'll see if I can get it repaired. If not, I'll wait until it actually stops working before I get a replacement.

On a related DS note, I got Guitar Hero on tour for the DS for christmas. It's so addictive but I can't help but worry that I'm gonna scratch the touch screen to s*** on certain solos.

Speaking of Guitar Hero on Tour, I'm pretty sure Activision-Blizzard crapped themselves when Nintendo revealed the GBA slot-less DSi, as it prevents them from making anymore GHoT games once the DSi is out and the DS Lite is stopped being carried in stores.

And to stop ruining good games by adding stupid sound effects/changing dialogue and such. I hate what they did to Legend of Zelda a Link to the past. Add the 4 swords thing all they want, but in the main game they added dumb sound effects to Link whenever he swings a sword (directly from Ocarina of Time) and changed a bunch of dialogue. Since it is my ALL TIME favorite game and is very dear to me, I am really a purist when it comes to that game and hate that they f***ed it up. It's crap like that which makes me want to get into this "homebrew" community.

I bought my DS during the initial rush. Looked everywhere for it, and finally found one at BJ's Wholesale... Its pink.
