How do you people with kids and marriages and girlfriends do it? I work a full time job and at the end of the day, I'm exhausted. On my days off, I'm so sick of people I don't want to go anywhere and just chill at home. But you people with kids and marriages can't do that. If I'm tired, I can just lock myself in my bedroom and play the XBox or what have you, but you guys with kids have to raise a family and I just don't see how you find the energy to do it all.
I have a lot of growing up to do. I guess I have too much free time. Sorry if this post doesn't make much sense.

No real secret behind it... you just do it.
It means no more going to bed at 4am and sleeping till noon, it means seeing your friends much less, and it means having to make more plans rather than doing everything cuz you get a wild hair up your ass. But you do it.

I think it gets easier as you get older but life always gets you down some times, just how you deal with it I guess.

It may sound silly, but what you're saying in a way is mature. You realize you don't have it in you to provide what a family would need right now. Unlike some people who don't have it, have kids anyway then become deadbeat paretns, run away parents, raise their kids like crap or run themselves into the poor house. I'm in the same boat. I'm 26. I couldn't deal with kids. I couldn't. So instead of being irresponsible and having kids in a situation I know I couldn't handle, which wouldn't be fair to the children, I choose not to have any.

I avoided marriage and kids for the same reason. I always had a hard time just getting by for myself, I couldn't imagine having to support kids. Now I'm making really good money and am debt free so finally looking at settling down. Problem now is getting a date so hopefully I didn't wait too long and end up never finding the right one.

Well, I think when you mentioned the part of locking yourself away in a room... you're sort of an anti-social person, at least to some degree. I know I am, which is why I don't bother with the women. They can track me down if they're interested.

Good thing about staying single is you're going to keep earning more and more money, and without a family to provide for you can pretty much sock it all away. Then when you're loaded you could always snag hot young gold digging chicks for flings whenever you wanted (least here in Cali most hot chicks are like that). Beats being stuck with an old wife that isn't hot anymore a few years down the road.

And that's probably what he would really say to me too.

I'm 24 and still have no idea what I want to do when I grow up. College - check. Tried being a chef for 2+ years. Not what I want to do. Women/family are the last thing on my mind, and I can't blame you for being overwhelmed by the thought, too.

As Deadpool and others have said already, it means you're not ready for that.
It's simple... I don't think there is a way you can "teach yourself" how to be a good partner/father/family man. It just happens. Or it may never happen, who knows.
But at least you have your mind totally set on the "NOT READY" mode, so you're, hopefully, relating with people accordingly.
I'd totally prefer an (ir)responsible Adultescent [adult in age, but teenager at heart] who's aware of his "limits" and who lives as if he still was 15 but he's adamant about it, to the Fake Adults who pretend to be grown-up responsible men, but end up being more childish than the aforementioned Men-Children.

I was 20 when I was married and had my first; had the other 5 years later; full time job etc.
Either you do what you need to do or the people you love suffer.
So, generally, decent people do what they need to.
I echo the sentiment other posters stated though..if you know you aren;t ready and don;t put yourself in that position then good on you.

Easy answer. You just do it. You can take the cowards way out and abandon your kid. Or you can be a man and take care of your responsibilities. To be honest. I've had more fun playing with the kids then I ever had hanging with my friends. If you trully love your kids, you don't see it as a hassle. you do it because you enjoy it. The fact is knowing I was coming home to the kids is what made work go by faster. plus not only that. kids go to sleep early so you do still have your own time too.
