I don't think I've said it before, but Zherdev has become a great acquisition for the Rangers. That guy has scored some big goals for the past few games.

Hats off to you for not being one of those sheep who always sides with whatever the team does.Malkin is the better of the two,if they wanna get Sid going they should put him on Malkin's wing See.. my whole thing with Crosby is.. if they're going to call him great then he should be capable of lifting the players around him. He should be the stimulus on the lines. He should be the one getting Satan and Feditanko to score. He should be the one making the players around him better. He should not have to be put with better players to make him look good. He *can* do those things. He made Ryan Malone & Colby Armstrong look pretty damned appealing. He would probably be able to get that going with his wingers this year if MT hadn't changed up the lines 3 games into the season and with only a very short pre-season behind them. Exactly! He should be lifting his linemates if he is indeed The Man.Kinda like what Mario did for guys like Rob Brown and Kevin Stevens

Sir Sid leaves the game, limping down the runway to the locker room. Equipment manager is still on the bench, so it's not an equipment issue. *sigh*

Sens get revenge on the Panthers, 2-1. Heatley and Kelly got the Ottawa goals. Next up for them are the Bolts, tomorrow night.

Son of a bitch. Andy Greene now out 3-4 weeks with a broken hand... they're dropping like flies over there in Newark. Must be something in the water.

Cue Malkin to carry the Pens and get little to no recognition again like last year.

Cue Malkin to carry the Pens and get little to no recognition again like last year. Malkin had 9 shots on goal in the 2nd period breaking a Penguins team record set by Mario Lemieux. I'm going to guess one of two things happened with Sid. First guess, probably most accurate, is that he re-injured his groin. He'd had some soreness there in the pre-season. Second guess is that he realized he was getting few to no chances without Malkin on his line and that he'd actually have to work. Third guess.. performance anxiety. How many times has he played in front of the Great One, the very man who dubbed Sir Sid "The Next One" ? I don't expect Sid to be out long. What worries me more is that the team is not on the same page. On more than one occasion the top players (not Sid) have questioned the system they're playing. They've stated that they're not ready for games and that they're playing a 'bad system'. The fact they're questioning the system, showing frustration in the locker room and on the ice because of the constant line changes bothers me. They don't believe in their system and they don't believe in their coach. Not a good way to start the season.

What's so special about [Crosby]? I don't see anything special there. Yes, he does skate well, has a good head, good pass. But there's nothing else. Even if you compare him to Patrick Kane from Chicago ... [Kane] is a much more interesting player. The way he moves, his deking abilities, his thinking on the ice and his anticipation of the play is so superb.
I think that if you take any player, even if he is "dead wood," and start promoting him, you'll get a star. Especially if he scores 100 points. No one is going to care about anyone else. No one is going to care whether he possesses great skill. Let's say you put someone in front of the net and let him deflect pucks in, and he scored 50 goals; everyone will say "Wow!" and then hand him a $10 million per year contract. That's what they like here. -Alexander Semin on Sidney Crosby.
Devils winning 6-0, but it looks like Brodeur is hurt.

And after leading the entire game, The Rangers give up 4 GOALS! Disgraceful.
EDIT: Correction. 5 GOALS! Valiquette isn't even trying anymore.

This is ri-goddamn-diculous. And he was finally playing well! What's going on with the Devils? They aren't playing like they should Basically? Injuries. Before Rolston got hurt, his line with Gionta and Elias was really shaping up, and before Holik got hurt, he, Zubrus, and Rupp were like a pack of rabid Tyrannosaurs on meth stampeding over everybody. Losing both of them also REALLY hurt the special teams. Then Langenbrunner got hurt for a little, now Andy's out for a month, and Marty hurt himself tonight. It's insanity. The good news: Jaime came back quick, we're getting closer to when Holik is expected back (hopefully Rolston's right behind him), and Marty just had what they're calling an "elbow bruise", so hopefully the most he'll miss is a start or two. Beautiful game tonight, though, helped largely by the Thrashers being a terrible, terrible team. And what the @#$% happened to the Rags and Fishsticks tonight?! Sweet Jebus!

Let's say you put someone in front of the net and let him deflect pucks in, and he scored 50 goals; Gretzky made a career like that. Semin is talking big right now, see if he's still on top at the All Star break.
