I want MTV to die. As in "die already", since they're not a music channel anymore, really. I'm not on board with blaming today's music for the problems with the network. I am-artists don't have engaging personalities these days that they did in the 80's. Of course I'm comparing apples to oranges again. An artist doesn't HAVE to have a personality really, but in this day and age, you better damn well have something. All see is rappers talking shit, boring 20 somethings with acoustic guitars, and the rest are either emo or dull "metal"

So instead of trying to go back to what brought them to prominence and made them a big channel, they're continuing this reality show crap? This should be a signal to go back to actually showing music videos. This. So let me get this straight: Showing mostly reality shows are killing your ratings.......so let's add 16 MORE realtiy shows. And um.......yeah Kinda makes me think that whoever thought this up should be standing in the same unemployment line as the dunce who thought it'd be a super peachy keen idea to take Smackdown off of The CW. Great mentality, isn't it? "I JUST SHOT MYSELF IN THE FOOT!! HOW DO I FIX IT?? OH YEAH!! I'LL SHOOT IT AGAIN!! AH DAMN, THAT JUST MADE IT WORSE!! MAYBE A FEW MORE BULLETS SHOULD FIX IT!! WHY IS IT NOT WORKING?!??!?"

Real Answer: I know, I thought the same thing. First of all, most teenagers can't vote. The one's who can, have more important things to do that watch Lauren and Heidi at their fake jobs. Sly Digg Answer: Well, doing absolutely nothing of any measurable worth except for making a few nice but empty speeches and having a vauge sense of superority about themselves does describe today's teenagers.

He's not even taken office or done anything notable outside of winning the election and they're already naming a generation after him. Hype much? I bring this point up because as soon as I read that line, I stopped reading the rest of the article. That alone says to me me that the guys that run that network not only have no idea what they're doing, they just outright are pretentious fools.

Part of MTV's problem is that they're way too stuck in a sense of complacency. When certain networks find what they consider a "winning formula", they'll soon take the easy route and try to reduplicate said formula. After a while, it gets to a point in which the network is at the mercy of that formula. When it gets to the point in which the audience is clearly getting burned out and are calling for a change, the network just continues to force you into liking something to the point of no tomorrow.
So that's when they won't take responsibility for themselves and prefer to blame outside forces. They also don't have much of a long term plan.
The big wigs at MTV for the most part, seem to primarily develop and schedule shows that they personally like, instead of what the audience likes (i.e. something more music related and original).

Look likes more of the same to me. I love how they call those lame reality shows of theirs "unscripted" when everyone knows there's no way they aren't scripted. When i did veronica mars (this is two years ago), a couple of the extras one day did 'next' the week before, and they went through step by step about the, and the girl really hated the whole thing, so she went in depth further, where the "Facts" when they step off the bus were all made up, and the little quips they say when they get passed on were told to them to say, and that their bathing suits they had had gotten ruined, and they were picked up at 6 in the morning, and just had to stay in the bus all day until the end, and they got 100$ for the whole thing. I agree on putting more music back on, doesn't have to be videos, could do more live shows/performances for me cause that's how they'd really be if you saw them.

Notice how Trey Parker and Matt Stone's show isn't even mentioned in the article. so they sign Trump(who needs money due to not being able to get big loans anymore) and Lachey right away but they don't automatically go with the two guys who have had a successful show on TV for the last eleven years???
MTV is just bad. Some people would argue that it was even bad when it first started but I won't get into that because I don't totally believe that.
They need to have music oriented shows. Not these stupid fake reality shows like Next and Parental Control which just suck and are mediocre in every way.
Music oriented shows would be like following a rock band on the road and doing a reality show on that. Having a top ten count down. Doing news on actual music and not stupid politics. Hell do a music oriented sitcom.
the reason why they do reality is the same reason Bischoff and Hervey do reality..............IT IS EASY. They hardly have to put any effort into it. It is the quick buck. The so called American dream..........do little as you can for as much as you can get.

I don't think that MTV realizes that people right now, are laughing at them instead of with them (like we were when stuff like "Beavis & Butt-head" were around). Anybody who watches "The Soup" on a regular basis will easily get a hint about how stupid and degrading MTV's reality fare as been in recent years.

Why she hasn't been wished well on her future endeavors yet...is beyond me.

MTV needs to order new episodes of Human Giant or sell it to a channel that would appreciate it, finally get off their asses and release their back catalog of amazing shows from the 80's and 90's on DVD, and then die.

Why she hasn't been wished well on her future endeavors yet...is beyond me. Aren't spin-offs to "Melrose Place" and "Gossip Girl" coming in the foreseeable future? The CW has become the broadcast network version of MTV (a bunch of shows centered on spoiled brats and degenerates). Both MTV and the CW even air "America's Next Top Model" to death.

MTV sucked since they stop rerunning Daria and rerunning the older seasons of the Real World (I'm talking about Seasons 1-11). Hell, the last time I even watch the channel was just for the final episode of TRL. Just to say goodbye to it.

Honestly - music videos were okay, but here were the reasons I watched MTV.
The Maxx, Daria, The Head, The Ben Stiller Show, My So-Called Life, Clone High, Aeon Flux and, on occasions, Undressed.
If they went back to this kind of programming I'd never stop watching.
