NationalFootballPost.com writer Mike Lombardi, speaking on Inside the NFL, said the Patriots will place the franchise tag on Matt Cassel. Smart move seeing as how Brady may not be able to play next season. The word is that the Patriots will place the franchise tag on Cassel, then trade him prior to the start of Training Camp. In doing so, they would acquire draft picks in exchange for Cassel, rather than getting no compensation at all if Cassel enters free agency. The only downfall would be for Cassel, that he could be exposed in 2009 as a mediocre quarterback who happened to be in a great offensive system, thus killing his marketability going into the year 2010. The NFL frowns upon the tactic of franchising a player just to trade them, feeling it is an unscrupulous and possibly underhanded way of handling business. I believe that the Patriots are helping to enhance the "Brady might be hurt more than you think!" reports, in order to have reasoning as to why they'd franchise Cassel and then trade him in July. www.bostonherald.com/sports/football/patriots/view.bg?articleid=1142010&srvc=sports&position=4

I wish they would. Right now they look like they can't afford brand new variations of either and they just wear bits and pieces of each uniform. Dark blue jerseys from the 90s with white helmets and white pants from the 60s. Only thing I didn't like about the AFL uniforms was the players # on the sides of the helmets. Just leave the new bolt designs on the white helmets with powder blue jersies. Also. I thought it was considered taboo to wear throwbacks in playoff games or the SB?

Mike Shanahan has taken himself out of the running to be the Jets' next head coach.

The powder blue jerseys aren't throwbacks so much as they are alternate home uniforms: It'd be like the Falcons wearing their red uniforms, the Ravens wearing their black uniforms or the Eagles wearing their black uniforms for a game.

"Top Favre/Burress/Owens line: The future of Philadelphia Eagle Donovan McNabb, says Schefter, could be "this year's offseason version of Brett Favre." Ill make sure to buy an extra bottle of Rolaids The last story gave me diabetes.

The Falcons have lost every game this season where they've gone behind first.

some confusion there. Could end up costing ATL.
This is a game where I don't mind either team. I want Arizona to win for the underdog factor, but I really like Matt Ryan. So I just want to watch a good game.
