Says it has no CD Drive??
I just tried to copy one of my CDs to my laptop but my laptop says "A CD drive is needed to rip music from CDs".
I've copied a few CDs before to my laptop with no problems and now all of a sudden this.
I am slightly technologically challenged so any help would be appreciated.

Your laptop has self-esteem issues.
Sorry. Wish I could help but 'fraid I've no idea.

Because it's no damn good.
Seriously, there has to be something that changed. Are you using a different program? Does the CD have copyright protection? Did you check your Control Panel to make sure the drive is still doing what it's supposed to?

Umm. Are you using Vista by any chance? Does the computer still say it has a CD rom drive? Click "Computer" in the start menu(you might have one on your desktop as well depending on your settings) and it should have a DVD or CD drive listed there as D: or E: or something like that(For XP replace computer with "My computer")
The CD rom drive might not be dead and it's just a case of broken drivers or something.
How old is your laptop? If you still have some warranty left you might call their support and they might be able to help you find your problem step-by-step

Is Vista renowned for this??

Is Vista renowned for this?? I've had missing CD drives a few times over my life. Unless it becomes a problem, your best bet is to take out any discs and reset. You can also check "system" in control panel, to see what the problem is.

Is Vista renowned for this?? From what I've heard, laptops are renowned for this. My dad's DVD burner doesn't burn overly well and it's like two years old. It especially acts up on the color topped CDs/DVDs and even moreso the dark ones like purple.
