You're on a pvp server. Don't be. How do I change that? Do I have to switch realms and lose my character? Cause I don't really want to do that. You can change that by getting a realm transfer of your character to another realm. I'm not sure of the complete workings of that, but you will have to cough up $25 to move your character to another server (unless it's during a free character transfer time, and that's only to less populated servers of the same variety (PvP or PvE)).

Another question if you can believe it. I have a bunch of armor and some extra weapons but apparently I can't use them. It keeps saying that I don't have enough proficiency I think. What exactly does this mean and is there something I can do to be able to use these things?

You can go to a weapons trainer in a major city to learn more weapons but still you probably won't be able to use everything.

Proficiency means it isn't available to you... for weapons, yeah do what Biafra says and go to a weapon master to teach you how to use it.
For armor, you are stuck with whatever you can wear for the duration of the game.... some classes, like Hunters, start out only being able to wear leather and cloth, but at lvl 40 you can wear mail. But those are dictated by the game, rather than you wanting to learn it.
The easiest way to figure if you can wear it or not, is when you point your mouse at the object, the little box that pops up that tells you its name, damage, etc,.... in the right-hand side it will tell you what it is... be it sword, gun, axe, mail, cloth, leather, or whatever... if the name is white, you can use it, if it's red, you can't.

Let's see..as far as armor, you can only use leather and cloth, though why you;d want cloth I dunno. You can use single hand swords, and if you go to a weapon trainer you may be able to use more, although I never tried.

Also, you'll get duel wield at level ten, but always keep a dagger in your main hand. Other hand can either be another dagger or a one arm sword.

Psssst. Leave your server. Restart (which shouldnt be that hard since you just started) on Bleeding Hollow, which is a high population PvP server. Make an Alliance character, and if you get the game, I can put you in my guild.
I don't see why these guys don't like PvP, as PvE just seems so vanilla to me. As far as being ganked out of nowhere, it's just another way of paying your dues. When you get into a high enough level, you'll be PvP'ing people outta their boots too.

I figure PVP is great for people who have experienced it all.... while PVE is good for people who just wanna level and see what each character has to offer.
I stopped doing PVP servers because I really wanted to see what class I liked, and it's hard to find a good class when you're spending all your time hiding from the other faction, and just when you think you've found a safe spot... here comes a rogue.
Although, now that I have an 80.. I'll probably go back to a PVP server at some point.

The only abilities I can think of that require a dagger are backstab, ambush, and the mutilate talent.

Is there a way for a rogue to do magic?

Is there a way for a rogue to do magic? This is the part of the show where Christian asks Tomko for a beat. Sadly, it just isn't happening. In short: Rogues can't do magic. They're with Warriors on that aspect.
