It was a nice miniseries. Best parts were still the baseball stuff. Didn't really need the extra.

True.....although the Bronx is Burning was pretty good also. In fact, ESPN has only really made one bad original series or movie and of course, that would be that series about freakin poker.

I know that the book was mostly about Reggie, but I would have liked to see more of some of the other players. I think there were 6 parts and Reggie was the focus of about 5 shows worth, Thurman Munson got about a quarter, George got about a half and the rest of the team had to share the last quarter with Ed Koch. Tell me something about Mickey "the Quick" Rivers other than he liked to play the ponies. I can't even remember any subplots about any of the other players like Nettles, Guidry, Hunter, Piniella, Chambliss, Randolph, Doyle, Dent or Lyle. This wasnt a boring group I'm sure there were good stories there. Hell I read Sparky Lyle's book "The Bronx Zoo'' about a dozen years ago so I'm know there are good stories, though I think that was about the 1978 season, but still. Highly recommend Lyle's book by the way.

I never watched it myself. I wanted to so badly but the nights it came on were my Phys Ed. 101 nights at school. If I was lucky i'd be able to catch 20-30 minutes while on the treadmill.

Also, at least with ESPN.....they know who to cast in crucial roles.

Loved it to pieces. And so did my mom, as she lived through the summer of '77 in NYC and saw this all first-hand. All the actors (Turturro, Platt, the guys that played Reggie, Munson, Yogi, Piniella, etc.) did a fantastic job.

I liked it but it felt like they were giving the Yankees a verbal blowjob

I liked it, and I'm not even a Yankees fan or a big supporter of ESPN. It was a helluva lot better than "3".

I loved it. I thought it was a great miniseries. Though, it could have done without the Son Of Sam subplot.

Oliver Platt was perfect casting. The guy can play a pompous blowhard like nobody.

Loved it, especially the nice touches like when they played the original opening to the 77 World Series' 6th game.

I loved it. I thought it was a great miniseries. Though, it could have done without the Son Of Sam subplot. Son of Sam was a pretty scary figure in NY history; never knew when or where he was going to strike. It wasn't a useless subplot, as everyone was concerned for their own well-being.
