Free agent Sammy Sosa said he's open to returning to the majors if someone makes him an offer. Woo! My childhood favorite player should help some team out looking for a DH. Too bad he can't play defense anymore, the Cubs still need a right fielder.

The Blue Jays could probably snap him up. Don't know why, they just came to mind.
Oh hi, Franchise. What are you doing with that ice pick?

No worries about that. God forbid we spend money and build a team to at least attempt to contend this year.

Randy Johnson has signed a 1-year deal with the Giants I gotta say my jaw dropped when I read that. Of all the pitchers in the league Randy Johnson didn't seem like he would be a Giant. Now I'm just dreaming here but if Randy Johnson could have a decent season the Giants rotation is drool-inducing. Also part of that dream would be Barry Zito pitching relatively good.

Randy Johnson has signed a 1-year deal with the Giants I'm just picturing the negotiations between los Gigantes and Johnson's agent, Barry Meister: Meister: "Would you like a bigger unit? Where would you like it? I can suggest some places!" Felipe Alou, Special Assistant (to the) General Manager: "You can put it in escrow!"

The A's have had preliminary discussions with the representatives for free agent Bobby Abreu, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
Rangers GM Jon Daniels told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that he has no plans of pursuing free agent Sammy Sosa.

Reds Sign Willy Taveras To Two-Year Deal Imagine how many bases he could steal if he could actually hit and get on base.

Reds Sign Willy Taveras To Two-Year Deal Always can count on the Reds to sign a bench player to a two year deal. This is Juan Castro all over again.

As a Yankees fan. I'm kind of disgusted the way Hank and Boras are killing baseball.

The Yankees haven't been handed the trophy yet. They still gotta play the games.
Ask the 2008 Tigers what spending big money for high priced talent gets you. Besides practically being given the 2008 title before the season even started, that is.

The Reds remain interested in re-signing Jerry Hairston Jr. even after inking Willy Taveras to a two-year deal.

I hope the Mets dugout has re-enforced gatorade coolers when Lowe gives up a few homers to the Phillies in a meaningful game AGAIN this year! Lowe gave up 14 HR's last season. (Almost ten less than Santana). I don't think the long ball is in order when you're dealing with a sinkerballer. I guess you missed his reaction after giving up a couple of homers to the Phillies in the NLCS! ;D

Reds Sign Willy Taveras To Two-Year Deal Imagine how many bases he could steal if he could actually hit and get on base. I saw the Rockies against the White Sox at the Cell this past season, and Willy could not be kept off of those bases. I think he had 4 or 5 SB that evening. I don't think any of his SB accounted for either of the Rockies 2 runs, but he looked like Rickey Henderson that night. (Well, AJ isn't the best at throwing guys out; wasn't he down to 12% this year?) He's one of those players who has a good couple of games every so-often, but not exactly someone to build a team around.
