Agent Barry Meister said Thursday that Randy Johnson is "really interested" in playing for the Giants. If they still excited, I think it would be nice if Randy Johnson finished his career and got his 300th win as an Expo. He could sign with the Nationals.

According to Yahoo! Sports, two top executives with one of the teams chasing Mark Teixeira expressed frustration Thursday that it appeared the Boras camp was using the media to ratchet up the price beyond what any team had actually offered. I'm not surprised. In fact, I would not be surprised if the only offers he's gotten have been from the Nationals and Orioles. Why would Boston want to give him that much money, or sign him for that matter?

Rangers re-signed RHP Brian Gordon to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.

The Red Sox officially unveiled their new uniforms tonight. While the home and home alternates will remain the same in 2009, the Red Sox made major changes to their road uniform and created a new road alternate. I don't really care for the new road uniforms. I get what they were driving at, trying to make them look like the road uniforms of the 1980s, but it just doesn't look good and it clashes with the lettering and styling of the home jerseys and alternates. But hey, if Mark Teixeira's wearing any of those four uniforms this coming season, I can live with it.

Jake Peavy is "frustrated" and "shaken" over the Padres' latest failure to deal him to the Cubs after weeks of talks, agent Barry Axelrod said told SI.com.

It's not because of trade clause he can't be traded, it's because of the GM's greed. The Padres GM is screwing up royaly. He's had TREMENDOUS offers from teams and has just been so greedy he won't work out anything.

If I double-posted I apologize.
Looks like the Jermaine Dye-for-Homer Bailey deal is dead. The Reds don't want to kick in on Jermaine's $11M (CHEAP!) salary and Kenny Williams feels the White Sox weren't getting enough in return.
Gee, you mean an unproven pitcher for a perennial MVP candidate that you can guarantee .290/30/95 (and solid defense) on a yearly basis isn't going to work out?
Can we stack this in Jay Leno's "Duh" Files?

Raul Ibanez signed with the WORLD CHAMPION (sorry, just had to do it once) Phillies, 3 yrs $30M.
This effectively ends the Pat the Bat era in Philly. Kinda sad actually. Even though he never lived up to the hype he never once let it get to him. My favorite Burrell moment was a game I went to after the All Star break about 3 years ago against the Marlins. In the first inning Burrell drops a routine fly ball, which of course leads to huge boos seeing as he had, once again, had a bad first half. But then he got up in the bottom of the first and deposited the ball about 30 rows back in left, which lead to everyone cheering for him.
But it's sad to see a guy go who, after 10 years of struggling, finally got to the world series, and the only hit he got was the one that put the winning run on base. He'll make a decent DH somewhere. Here's to the best Pat the Bat.

I like the new road unis, and the alternate home jersey, but sorta hate the "Double Sock" alternate hat. Oh well, no biggie. BTW, given all the money the Yankees have and how they love spending it on guys like Sabathia and soon-to-be Burnett, you'd think they'd take the burden off the taxpayers and fund their own stadium. But... Link

I'm just glad Raul didn't go to the halos. That would have been bad news for Seattle. And Ani, he got $10 mil a year

The Mets trade for Putz, sign Krod AND the team's run production will go up now that we'll face Ibanez and his noodle arm often.
