I just couldn't buy kingpin because he was supposed to be a strong man who looked morbidly obese
It didn't look like Duncan was picked on as a child or fat at all. He just looked muscular

I thought Affleck did a good job as well. I think as far as looks alone, he was Matt Murdoch. I also think Jen Garner is smoking, so I'm biased there, but I will say Elektra sucked. As for Duncan as Kingpin, I had no problem with it. If he really was the best man for the job, personally, I think King Kong Bundy was born for that part, but hey...all is cool with me.
I even liked Colin Farrell as Bullseye just because he seemed to be having fun with it, and that dude is not very good in movies. I haven't seen the Director's cut, but after hearing nothing but great reviews, I may have to pick it up. Can anybody give me a brief synopsis on what makes it far better than the theatrical cut, which I liked as well.

Certainly one of the better Marvel movies Besides Iron Man, Hulk (Norton) & Spiderman

Did everyone here actually see the theatrical cut? Because I saw it in theaters and thought it was garbage

I'm okay with soft reboots (Read: Incredible Hulk, or Batman Forever) but hard reboots shouldn't be done unless the film series is old and twisted from years of bad films.

I'm guessing you mean "Batman Begins". I don't know if "Forever" could be considered an out and out reboot. Some elements from the Tim Burton films crossed over to "Batman Forever" like Pat Hingle and Michael Gough as Gordon and Alfred respectively. I would consider "Batman Forever" to be like the James Bond movies (a la when Roger Moore took over for Sean Connery or when Timothy Dalton took over for Roger Moore, for instance), in which it fits within a loose continuity.

Maybe they could focus on a hero who isn't blind and make a movie about that guy.

This directors cut must really be something if it could salvage that movie. First off, wow, there's a lot more people who agree with me than I thought. Johnson's Daredevil is truly one of THE great unsung movies of all time. And yes - you're right. The largest complaint leveled against the theatrical cut of Daredevil is that it takes the complicated Matt Murdoch character and turns the movie into a "you killed my girlfriend!" revenge movie. Just by adding thirty minutes, the original, intended version of the movie is MUCH deeper than that, becoming much more of a character piece about Murdoch as a human being and the journey he goes through as a hero. It also has much more investigative cogs leading him to Wilson Fisk as the Kingpin.

I saw it in theaters.
I didn't mind Ben Affleck as Daredevil. I didn't mind Jennifer Garner as Electra. I didn't mind Michael Clarke Duncan as Kingpin. Heck, I even liked Colin Farrell.
I even didn't mind the story... although I was hoping that it would be the grim-n-gritty Frank Miller Daredevil and not something more family-oriented.
I remember that I hated the action scenes. Everything was Matrix-esque, super slo-motion. Of course, all the action movies at that time were the same... but it would have been better (in my opinion) if they made it more like a martial arts movie (think Jet Li in "Fist of Legend"). Daredevil is a more street-level hero... I just thought it would have made more sense for the character.
Oh, and my favorite scene from the movie was when Electra was preparing for her battle, with Evanescence "Bring Me to Life" in the background. Still a damn good song, the only problem being that it was over-played.

I highly doubt rothman will be around any longer, from what I've seen it looks like rothman isn't going to last longer.

Everyone remembers Daredevil right? I mean the complete lack of chemistry between the leads, horrible Nu Metal soundtrack, ridiculously intrusive cgi in the fight scenes? Nope? Ok. ;D

Shush you, we're talking about it being good I've only seen the director's cut and thought it was great. I'd be more than happy to see a reboot attempt.

well I've always liked the comic Dare Devil (cause he has my name) but I would dread a new 'vision' of the character. New 'vision' normally means, let's make it as emo as possible.
Oh I was gonna ask, how well did Dare Devil do at Cinemas? I don't think it bombed that bad did it?

I REALLY enjoyed Daredevil. I don't get all the venom that gets thrown in it's direction. It's because Mark Steven Johnson is a terrible filmmaker and really missed the mark with Daredevil. People enjoy it as some popcorn flick or whatever, but that movie is an incredibly poor representation of what Daredevil is. He's basically Marvel's Batman in terms of mood and tone, yet his film was more like Spider-Man meets the Tom Jane Punisher. Daredevil has enhanced reflexes yeah, but he can't do a snorking fifty-foot running jump or half that other crap he was doing in that movie. Like I said, he's not Spider-Man. Then there's the mostly abysmal casting. Favreau was great and Clarke-Duncan made sense, but the rest was just bad. I know Ben Affleck is a hardcore Daredevil geek, but Nicolas Cage is a huge Superman nerd but he sure as hell shouldn't be playing the Man of Steel (thank god that never happened). Colin Farrell was terrible for Bullseye for nothing else than his opinions on the character. On the DVD he literally says "with movies like this you can just camp it up". Yeah, that worked out great for Batman & Robin. Garner, while not awful, was still miscast. Bottom line - Okay action flick, terrible adaptation of Daredevil. As for the idea of rebooting the franchise, I'm all for it. Get a director in there that wants to take the character and do something gritty and psychological with him, while not forsaking the comic elements and a lead actor who really has the chops to pull off Matt Murdock, and you have a winner.
