With all the hype about the watchmen movie i just wanna knoe since i never got to read it .How is it? Is it like-
V for Vendetta?- Another alan moore based move- ie long, preachy, deovio of much action and ulitmately boring.
300- Action packed from minute 1. Extremely fun andentertaining.
Sin city- Not as good as 300 but still ok.

It's...not really like any of those.
But in tone and style I'd compare it most to V For Vendetta, if only because they have the same author.
But really, it's an entity in and of itself. You'll just have to read it to see. It's not especially action-packed though, if that's what you're looking for.

Not anywhere close to any of those. Hell, there's graphic novels, then there's Watchmen. It deserves it's own category. But if you haven't read it, go read it. now.
........Seriously.

It's pretty much required reading. It's just that f***ing good.
Why are you still here?
Go read it.

I mean, its very good, but seeing as this is not the same world of comics that Watchmen came into in 1987 I'm not at all surprised if someone doesn't think its the end all be all (like me).

It is not like ANY of those options. The one it is even REMOTELY close to is Sin City.
Watchmen is its own thing. It balances drama, slow-paced story telling, and a lot of action evenly. It asks the burning question, who, or what, are super heroes? To this end, most of the heroes in Watchmen are human, like in Sin City, and most of them, especially The Comedian, are corrupt people with a sick view of justice. Then you have Doctor Manhattan, the only hero with actual powers, and he has distanced himself from humanity.
As such, the civilians in Watchmen really don't have any heroes at all, and those that could save them have been shunned by them. Basically, how heroes view the common populace in Watchmen is best summed up by Rorschach's line "The world's will look up and shout 'save us', and I'll whisper 'no'."

Better than all the above, and not really comparable in tone that much with any of them. However if you didn't like V, and found it boring, you probably won't enjoy Watchmen.
Totally different than the other two, and better by leaps and bounds.

None of the above. I've never read anything like it. Love the concept and love how the dialogue, the juxtaposition, and the art all work together in .. every .. single ... frame of this graphic novel. Honestly, there is so much that can discussed ... I'm going to have to go find an "official Watchmen" discussion thread.

None of the above and better than all of 'em I'd say.
If you're looking for action in it, you'll probably get plenty, but if you put action above depth of story and characters, it's probably not for you. It's a real socio-psychological piece and brilliant because of it.

Its not like any of those. Considering all of those films were awful adaptations (Sin City was the best of those 3) I'd say read it or don't bother.
The film of "V For Vendetta" made me so angry I actually smashed a glass case holding the movie poster walking out of the theatre... An over reaction but it'd been a rough week and seeing one of my favourite comics and one of the most intelligent and balanced critiques of the Thatcher era turned into a preachy Michael Moore-esque American political diatribe that enjoyed the smell of its own "eggy in a basket" farts, was just heart breaking.
Basically if your only expirience with the work of "Alan Moore" is through the film adaptations, check out the source material, theres a reason the ACTUAL Alan Moore wants his name removed from the flicks.
