It's not that Vince doesn't like the movie, it's more that he doesn't like anything that doesn't kiss his ass. We all know he's a genius and revolutionized the industry, but for him to diss a movie that is getting huge acclaim and awards recognition is just ignorant. He couldn't just appreciate it for what it is...a really good film. It's really not like it's directed at him or has a character based on him screwing these guys over. I commend him for helping out ex-employees.

He's allowed to have his opinions like anyone else. And this thread title is misleading. It didn't reveal his reaction, it said "well, we don't know for sure, but we're pretty sure it's negative!"

Yeah, but is it really a stretch to think that he doesn't like it beacuse it shows The Ram's character to be a lot like Jake Roberts? It shows wrestlers are beat up and sick, and when people think of wrestling, they think of the WWF/E. Vince has to know these things happen, but nobody is blaming him for what these guys do after their careers are over. I think he took this movie as a dig at him.

In all honesty, I think Vince's reaction is the same for all movies. "Needs more Katie Vick"

I know the WWE defenders love poking holes in people's opinions. All Vince had was an opinion about the movie and people blew it out of proportion in this thread. But its okay right? Yes people "Evil" McMahon strikes again.

If that's true I dread what will happen to Ron Killing's push having been involved in this movie. But having the angle with Shawn at the same time makes this report weird, mind you Shawn and JBL seem to get quite a bit of creative freedom in their promos, so maybe Vince didn't get the references. Otherwise this could be smark bait. I haven't seen the movie, but doesn't it have a kind of feel good ending? I though Vince would appreciate that, since he's a big mark for stories of wrestlers overcoming the odds following adversity. It's really lame if just because it tells a bit of truth about wrestling he'd hate it.
I guess we might find out more if Aronofsky does some more interviews...

Foley said in an interview that he thought Vince would hate it, and lo and behold, he hates it.
Vince was probably holding out for a scene where Mickey Rourke's character pulls a guy out of a car and makes the guy s*** himself.

I doubt he yelled at the director; I imagine he gave him his honest opinion but was respectful about it. I have no doubt though, after Aronofsky was gone, McMahon probably lost his shit and went on a tirade about it.
It probably pisses Vince off that an extremely well respected director made a truthful movie about the industry, it's getting critical acclaim, it goes against his own attempt to sanitize the industry, and he can't do a thing about it.

Vince McMahon hearing about a film on it's year of release.
I wasn't expecting him to get angry about The Wrestler until at least 2018

Aronofsky should have just slipped in a copy of NO HOLDS BARRED instead.
That way, when Vince was giving "that new sport-entertainment piece" rave reviews, he could have just ran with it.

I don't plan on seeing The Wrestler.
However, I should also mention that had Vince allegedly liked the film, I still wouldn't want to see it.

He got his job from his daddy and broke the ultimate unwritten rule in wrestling at the time. WWE made it big because he already had the money to do it. It is not like he did anything special that no one else couldn't have done. Sure he is a smart business man and knows what he is doing but he did not do anything genius.

Man, sometimes people really get an inch and take a mile around here when we get some of these reports.
There's not much information in this report other than that Vince requested a private screening of the film and apparently didn't like it. Anything else is total conjecture.
