I'm going to drop some money on wrestling DVDs and was wondering if this was a hit or miss.

It's pretty good. They did it in kayfabe, and I can't imagine them doing it any other way (can you really picture Kane sitting down out of character and shooting the shit, documentary style?). For all of the guy's f***ed up storylines and plotholes that are miles wide, they do a pretty good job of (kayfabe) stringing them all together. If you like Kane, you'll most likely enjoy the DVD.

I wish it wasnt kayfabe because I'd like to hear Glenn Jacobs tell his story on how he became Kane and his path to get there.

Sadly, I'd say no. The matches can all be found on PPV dvds/videos. I'd have loved them actually admitting to the fact that Kane isn't... gasp... really a tormented soul. I'd love to see some of his SMW matches... maybe even the ole' Issac Yankem cage match...
This is one of the few WWE career sets that I didn't buy. (Cena being the other one). I'm usually a mark for career sets but just can't see myself spending 20+ on it.
Seriously... when is the last time you've said "... man I really want to watch that match of Kane vs. *insert any wrestler*"

The cage match and stretcher match against Edge were excellent. So it was awesome to get those on DVD. I'd say it's worth a buy. It's a good retrospective of a very underrated (and along with Edge my favorite wrestler) worker. The only complaint I have about it, is that it would have been nice if the 2001 Royal Rumble was included.

It has a couple of matches I would like to own on it.
I haven't picked it up yet, but will soon.

I thought the chain match from 2001 against Triple H was pretty damn good.

It was decent, the highlights for me being the two Shane vs Kane matches.
