Could work as a squash on Smackdown, but never as a PPV match. It'd go just like Taker vs Mysterio from KOTR a few years back.

If it means Shelton lasts longer than 20 seconds in the rumble this year I'm all for it.

Shelton can do all the "amazing natural athleticism" spots in the world, unless he develops a personality and some storytelling ability to make me care about anything he does, I'll continue to doze off every time he appears. Agreed. Not to mention a feud with Taker usually requires a lot of promos and backstage segments. And Shelton is one of the least qualified men in WWE to get in an heavily promo-oriented program.

I understand the criticisms you guys of Shelton Benjamin, but we've seen in the past that he can carry his side of a good midcard program when he feuded with Triple H years ago. So they've got this guy on the payroll that's a great athlete but needs a charismatic opponent to play off of. What would you do with him? Makes sense to me to put him with the Undertaker.
"Guy who's scared of Undertaker but pretending not to be" which is basically the other half of most of Taker's feuds, probably isn't that hard of a part to play. I'm sure Shelton can do it fine, and I could see these two having a good match.

I'm looking forward to seeing their match next week, and hope this does result in a push for Shelton.

I think it's filler between now and the Royal Rumble. I expect for the Undertaker to have some interaction with Umaga in the Royal Rumble. Maybe, Taker eliminates Umaga and he snaps and attacks the Undertaker, thus causing him to be eliminated as well and setting up a match between the two at Wrestlemania.

The part may not be that hard to play, but the standard feud involving Taker and WrestleMania is usally a tad boring by itself, having been more or less the SAME feud for the last X years... Putting a mediocre, at best, talker and a dry entertainer as Shelton as the other half of the feud is a bit of a risk

maybe they just do an angle where Shelton is too 2d for the mind games to work. infact he should just come out and say "generic angry promo against the undertaker" and the like

I could see something like this happening in the next few weeks, but not at a Wrestlemania, unless they are gonna start to push Shelton seriously from now until then.
The only time i've ever felt Taker's streak was in jeopardy was at Wrestlemania 21 when he faced Randy Orton. If anyone could have possibly ended it, with the hot streak Orton was on at the time, it would have been him. Me and a friend even had a cash bet on the match, lol. I bet that Taker would win, he bet Orton would win, and I will admit there were certain points in that match where I was scared I was gonna lose my money. (Like the RKO out of a chokeslam spot)
