So for instance of course Denis Stamp in the past has wanted to move up the ladder and can even do tricks to be in a main event wrestling promotion. But a lot of guys like Stamp are never serious contenders to return to the WWE, either because of obvious reasons or because the WWE just doesn't want them back.
But who are some wrestlers who want into the WWE who could actual work out? Honestly, I think Sycho Sid's aspiration to return could work out if WWE gave him the go ahead. I mean of course nothing long term, but perhaps as a foil to Cena.

I think Psycho Sid could do something like a role that Rick Rude did during the end where he was a big guy who didnt wrestle and was just an insurance policy. No matter how old Sid is.....he still is a formidable tough guy and would be intimidating.

I don't know if Sid is in shape to work, but I could see him: "being in the crowd" and being goaded into the ring, and he starts chokeslamming Legacy guys, then takes an RKO.
That'd get folks talking.

Sid is 48 now. None of the younger guys would put him over and I wouldnt blame them. He'd have to wrestle other "old guys" to be credible.

I'd always love to see DDP come back. Kind of like a loner, having to work his way up the ladder again. I think that would be kinda cool.

Sid being Legacys "Rick Rude to his DX" would be awesome.

Marty Jannetty...I think he could somehow play into the HBK/JBL angle.

Christian. Win the Rumble at #30 or be revealed as the person who attacked Jeff Harvey Hardy

Bob Backlund - According to Jim Ross, the only reason he's not in the WWE Hall of Fame is because he feels he still has one good run left in him. I personally would love to see Backlund return to WWE.

Chances are, he's bigger than that person, both in size and in drawing power and it wouldn't be seen as damaging long term.

Sid's been around, and it never hurts to take some advice from a former World Champion who's done stints around the world. My top pick though is Joey Matthews/Mercury. The dude can work and has lots of experience. If he can stay clean, I say go for it.

Sid was being considered for a return, until he was asked the million dollar question, "Can you pass a wellness test?"
Then that idea died.
