So after the process of elimination through our tournement going through Roddy Piper, Ultimate Warrior, Bret and Owen Hart, Jericho, Razor Ramon, William Regal and Honky Tonk Man our final is: Mr Perfect (Curt Henning) "Enlisting Bobby Heenan as his new manager, Mr. Perfect went on to win the vacant Intercontinental Title in the final round of a tournament in April 1990 by defeating two-time Intercontinental Champion Tito Santana.[7][8] He lost the belt to The Texas Tornado four months later at SummerSlam.[9][8] He regained the title back from Von Erich on November 19, 1990, thanks to interference from Ted DiBiase. This title win aired on the December 15, 1990 edition of WWF Superstars of Wrestling. He held it until August 1991, dropping the belt to Bret Hart at SummerSlam;[10][4] upon Heenan's retirement as manager in May 1991, "Coach" John Tolos became Perfect's new manager, and remained his manager until Perfect took time off after SummerSlam. Hennig battled an injured back throughout most of this period, and while recovering he acted as Ric Flair's "executive consultant" during Flair's two WWF Championship reigns." - From Wikipedia.org vs The Rock aka Rocky Mavia "[Dwayne] Johnson, who was first portrayed as a clean-cut babyface, was pushed heavily from the start despite his lack of in-ring experience. He debuted at Survivor Series in November 1996 and was the sole survivor,[19] and he won the Intercontinental Championship from Hunter Hearst Helmsley on Raw on February 13, 1997, after only three months in the company.[20][21] Fans, however, quickly grew sick of the one-dimensional good guy character, thanks in part to the increasing popularity of Stone Cold Steve Austin.[15] As a result, a regular occurrence during Johnson's matches was the fans' angry chants of "Die Rocky Die!" and "Rocky Sucks!","

As I indicated in the semi-final thread, Mr. Perfect. The Rock defeating Honky in the semis made this choice easier for me. This is coming from someone who loved Rock's last reign as Intercontinental Champion. It was my favorite period in the Rock's career.

Well, let's see how much this board's hard-on for dead guys clouds its judgment. Both guys were around the IC title scene for a while, just in different time periods, and just because one of them has passed on, it is wrong to vote for them? Wow, this board amazes me sometimes.

Well, let's see how much this board's hard-on for dead guys clouds its judgment. Well, this time around I don't think it's all about the Jim Morrison Effect... Mr.Perfect embodied THE Intercontinental Championship. At lest the title when it was at the peak of its popularity. As they said on his (or Bret's?) DVD, there was a time when the WWF Champion was the moneymaker, but being IC Champ meant being the best wrestler on the show. People paid to see Hogan & co. but more often than not it was the match about the IC title that stole the show in terms of pure action. And I think Mr.Perfect should be the Best Intercontinental Champion of all times simply because he was the best to hold that belt without making the transition to the next level. He was THE Intercontinental title guy, not one who got it as a "test" or as a "we don't have anything better for you right now" deal. Mr. Perfect brought prestige to the belt and to the IC scene, and he got all that prestige back from the nobilitated title. Rock? Meh... they touted him as one of the Next Big Things, and by hook or by crook, that how it ended. I don't think his IC reign had all that impact

They're both great, but I think Perfect was the better champ.

Mr. Perfect is one of the most overrated I.C. champs ever. Can anyone think of any great feuds he had during his two reigns? His little feud with Kerry Von Erich was ok, although the matches were terrible. Asides from that, he's best remembered for dropping the belt to the Hitman at Summerslam 91.
He wouldn't make my top-5. I voted for The Rock.

Perfect always seemed like one of the guys synonymous with the IC belt. I always correlate the Rock to the WWF Championship or the WHC.

Well, let's see how much this board's hard-on for dead guys clouds its judgment. You've got it all wrong. I voted Mr. Perfect, but that's in spite of the fact that my boner was telling me to vote for the Rock.

If Mr. Perfect wins, it's obviously because he's dead..... In all seriousness, he truly was IMO the greatest Intercontinental Champion.

I agree that the votes for Perfect are not due to him being dead. When Mr. Perfect was champ, he carried himself like a champion, exuding confidence and he always excelled in the ring (he was one of the best workers in the company at the time). He had a great manager (well, for most of the time) that only added to the persona. Sure, he didn't have monthly PPVs or a big-time weekly TV show which would allow him to have a lot of high-profile defenses, but he was champ before these were standards in the business. Also, winning a title tournament seemed like a big deal back then. Part of the reason Bret Hart's Intercontinental Championship win felt so special is because Mr. Perfect had carried the belt so well and was viewed as such a great champion.
I have already pointed out my love for Rock's last reign with the belt, but I thought I would try to point out why I feel people (like me) are voting for Perfect. It's not because he's dead. If that were the case I think Owen, Von Erich, and Rude would have made it further in this thing.

Rock's biggest time in the sun was after he was already a World Champion though. He's more associated with that level. Perfect on the other hand embodied the IC title and made it seem so important. If this thread was about better all around "sports entertainer" then I'd vote for Rock, when talking purely about the IC title it's Perfect hands down for me.
