This thought occurred to me earlier yesterday, and I have been mulling it over ever since. Suppose that Brian Pillman had survived, and lived to see this new, neutered, kid friendly WWE? What do you think his role would have been? I mean, my God, the sheer havoc that someone like the "Loose Cannon" could unleash on a weekly basis on RAW, and the sheer delight he would take in breaking every rule....in my mind, RAW would actually become interesting again, if you had someone like Pillman running around, who might do, say, or create an explosive situation at moment's notice.
We've seen his antics in ECW....we've seen the birth of the Loose Cannon in the stuffy, PG-rated wCw....what would he do on the stuffy, PG rated RAW?
Intentional color? Blatant swearing? Drop trou and moon the camera?
Go off script and confront CM Punk, maybe get into a legit fistfight with Bradshaw?

Not to sound like a jerk, but he'd get Future Endeavored the second he did something he wasn't supposed to do in this day and age.
All the Loose Cannon stuff would be 100% scripted and probably feel forced and/or lame.

Get into a water gun fight with Hornswoggle and occasionally yell "You're Poopy!"

Once he "yanks his Johnson out", out comes Big Dick Johnson.

I'd turn the TV off.
I never liked the "Loose Cannon" character. Pillman always came across to me as a bit desperate while doing it.

He would do what he was told. The character wouldn't work as well with him being older and I don't think he would be a priority any more for WWE.

If he would have mellowed with age, and just become sort of like Terry Funk....this guy that used to be batcrap insane, but is just a friendly old dude now. It honestly would break my heart to see that, to see the rebellious Pillman become a lapdog for Hunter and Vince. But part of me thinks he may have just stayed crazy as hell, and hey, if they fire his ass, he goes to TNA.

I'd believe he'd have retired by now and be at home spending time with his wife & family.
I didn't know of Brian Pillman during his heyday (it was before my time...I caught the tail end in WWF). I have watched the WWE produced dvd of his career though...while it's not complete I feel it educated me enough to comment about him.
He was a good wrestler...he just never seemed to fit. His antics seemed to exist like "hey look at me! I need attention!". It certain was loose cannon, but you can't have someone on your roster who is legit crazy like that. They become a liability.

If Pillman was alive today and managed to get himself fit all those years ago, he would have been the 'hero' Vince wanted to combat Austins anti Hero character, I do believe Pillman would have mellowed in his character, the same way that DX have mellowed as well, I do however believe that he would be known to be involved in at least one OMG storyline a year

Wasn't his body pretty banged up before his death? He'd probably be retired.

Wasn't his body pretty banged up before his death? He'd probably be retired. Good point. I doubt he would have been able to continue wrestling for much longer anyway, sadly. As entertaining as Brian Pillman was as the Loose Cannon, to me he will always be the young, high-flyer from WCW who was known for his matches more than his character.

I assume he'd be retired by now. He was in his mid-30's and had a bum foot back in 1997. In 2008/9 it'd be completely shocking if he were still wrestling.
