Wow thats terrible that some of the weed smokers are apparently turning to pills. Legal or not, weed is without question the lesser of two evils... Unless its a prescribed pill used in the proper dosage. ....yeah, I tried to keep a straight face while typing that.

Its really simple. Alcohol and pain pills with a prescription are legal. Pot illegal. But it's not really that simple. Alcohol and pain pills with a prescription can be dangerous. Pot not-so-dangerous. This is where the real quandary comes in for the WWE. The question is do they want their wrestlers doing something illegal that would paint a bad image with the media. Or do they want their wrestlers doing something legal that has led to SO many wrestling deaths in the past AND will paint a bad image with the media. It seems that they have decided to chose the latter and I'm just saying that may not be the smartest or certainly not the safest option, even though the other option is illegal (I'm not trying to argue whether or not it should be).

WWE has turned a blind eye to this stuff forever, they need to just buck and say clean and sober or out...granted I could care less either way if someone wants to smoke up, but the first time something goes wrong people are just gonna rip the WWE a new ass because they knew and did nothing about it. Bottom line is WWE is a company, and if one of their INDEPENDENT CONTRACTORS does something illegal it reflects badly on WWE and business in general. The glory days of getting snorked up out of your mind on booze & drugs is over, it's not good for business. Now pass me a beer and a joint...thank god wrestlecrap doesn't request drug tests before we post. Fixed.

I lift heavy boxes all day, for my job, and I'm typically in a lot of pain.
If I was to start smoking weed, and fail a drug test, I'd be fired too.
It's pretty simple. If they're cracking down on drug usage, don't use drugs.
Wrestling isn't the only physical job where people end up in pain.

I don't really care, though with the stuff wrestlers go to I would be more than a bit surprised if a large group of them doesn't do something.

Ban all non-prescribed drugs. Then give health insurance, 401ks, guaranteed time off and pay for travel. That would hopefully lessen the stress.
EDIT: Because whether you move boxes or restrain violent prison inmates, I'm pretty sure if you are doing a FULL-TIME job then you are receiving benefits and time off. Drugs are used for more then physical pain. I know this is another topic altogether, but the whole "Independent COntractor" scam WWE has sickens me.

Whether you are for it or not, wrestlers getting caught with weed just looks bad and you will know the ravenous media would jump on it. If that's what WWE was going for then I agree with them

WWE shouldn't be testing for pot in this first place. There is no legitimate need to.
That being said, they had a system in place where it would just lead to a fine. If the person is willing to pay the fine, why do they care? If I chose to park and not feed the meter downtown and got a ticket every day for it, yet kept paying the ticket, the city wouldn't give a damn. Because I'm satisfying the punishment that they set in place for not paying a parking meter.

I don't smoke weed, but if I was doing something even half as painful and stressful as wrestling, I'd probably do it too. It's better than doing something else. Of the many wrestlers who have died, I'm pretty sure none of them have died from smoking weed. And, I hate saying this, because it seems like it's mentioned in every thread, but maybe it's due to WWE wanting to appeal to kids. They don't want one of their guys getting caught with weed and having these little kids trying to do it.

Isn't in $1000 per offense, and a maximum of 4 tests per year?
I believe RVD had a quote that he said he'd just pay them $4000 at the beginning of the year and save them the trouble of the test.
