- Not sure of anymore details other than what we posted last month, but there has been a definite crackdown on marijuana usage in the company and a lot of the talents are unhappy and complaining privately about it. The belief is the drug testing is serious but they talk like they think management knows many of the talents are drinking heavily and pain pill usage is high, but drinking is fine by the Wellness policy and pain pills are fine with prescriptions. The feeling is they've cracked down on marijuana which most people feel is okay and the heavy pot users who have been fined often and given an ultimatum are turning to drinking and/or pills.

Illegality or not, smoking pot seems a lot less likely to cause wrestlers to die before 40 then alcohol and pills.

Ban prescription pills an alcohol and cigs.
I don't smoke pot myself, but these people are old enough to make decisions for themselves and as long as it doesn't affect their work, I don't see why they should be worrying about that. I'd rather see them smoke a joint after a match then popping a few pills with a 12 pack.

Instead of justifying drug use, whether it be alcohol, pills, pot, or anything else, I think we should be hoping that these guys just get clean. Dependancy on pot, pills and booze is still a dependancy.
I'd rather these guys enjoy sobriety than debate what is acceptable addiction.

Can I just say that if this thread turns into a debate about the pros and cons of Marijuana, then it will be locked.

WWE has turned a blind eye to this stuff forever, they need to just buck and say clean and sober or out...granted I could care less either way if someone wants to smoke up, but the first time something goes wrong people are just gonna rip the WWE a new ass because they knew and did nothing about it.
Bottom line is WWE is a company, and if one of their employees does something illegal it reflects badly on WWE and business in general.
The glory days of getting snorked up out of your mind on booze & drugs is over, it's not good for business.
Now pass me a beer and a joint...thank god wrestlecrap doesn't request drug tests before we post.

While that is certainly true (really they shouldn't want they're wrestlers have any habits like these), with all the horrible press coverage they've gotten post-Benoit (bringing up ENORMOUS lists of wrestlers who have all died because of their addictions) marijuana seems like the lesser of two evils.

I honestly don't think they should be punished for it unless they do it at work. WWE shouldn't be allowed to punish a guy like Brian Kendrick because they hear he smokes weed. Look at him, of course he does. Half of the candid pictures you see of Kendrick he looks blazed out of his mind. Yet, has he ever done a bad job for you? I rest my case.

Then you have them living in pain for the rest of their days, and their in-ring work and their overall lifestyle is worsened. Let's face it, it's not like they want to cram their gullets full of pills and get shitfaced EVERY night. They're just trying to get rid of the pain that this business has caused them. I'm not saying they shouldn't try to be sober, but their excess is understandable. Also, since I'm pretty pro-marijuana legalization to begin with, I think they should let them smoke.

I'm not saying they shouldn't try to be sober, but their excess is understandable. Also, since I'm pretty pro-marijuana legalization to begin with, I think they should let them smoke. While I don't want to get into a mary jane debate, I do think it has to be said, that although I'm firmly against legalizing pot, I DO think that it needs to be a contolled substance, just like any pain pill that you can get a prescription for. Heck, most heavy pot users are addicted to it one way or another, even if they don't know they are. Alot of the time you have someone who's going through unbearable pain, and they actually get better pain relief from pot than they do from the pain meds they are prescribed from their doctor. That habit could last 30 years.

IMO, the problem is when you have an RVD situation where your champion gets busted in public.
With a publicly traded company, you don't want the poster child of your business being a doobie brother. Especially with you know who already giving pro wrestling a black eye recently.

Its really simple.
Alcohol and pain pills with a prescription are legal.
Pot illegal.

I'd rather see them smoke a joint after a match then popping a few pills with a 12 pack. Or just don't do any of the above. Who says cigarettes will affect their work? Jeff Hardy smokes and he can still perform at a high level. With that said, no one could ever say its a "healthy" habit so IMO it'd be in the best interest of anyone in a physical profession not to smoke/drink/use drugs. Unless you're The Sandman, then you've made a career out of it.

Wow thats terrible that some of the weed smokers are apparently turning to pills. Legal or not, weed is without question the lesser of two evils...
