The WWE is going through this new youth movement, because they've be criticized for not making new stars. The Monday Night Wars were the last big hurrah for the stars of the 80's like Hogan and Savage, and cemented the next generation of main event players like Austin and HHH. Behind them, you had a lot of up and comers like Chris Jericho and Edge, with plenty of talent, but hadn't hit their peaks yet. I was just thinking today that most of that group of guys aren't even around anymore.
Lesnar Angle Christian Booker T Scott Steiner Benoit Guerrero Goldberg
Who else?
A couple on the list were maybe mishandled, but others aren't around through no direct fault of the WWE.

I think WWE has been making new stars on their own accord, as a natural progression of the business. John Cena and Orton seem to have been successes in this regard, while the Hardyz got brought up to the main event, in Jeff's case, and uppercard, in Matt's. Lashley, of course, was a failure.
Christian will be back, so, good there.

I think they did an excellent job building up Orton, Batista, and Cena. I think they're gonna do the same with Morrison and Punk now. With Punk already having a world title reign it's hard to consider him as a new star though. Maybe he'll get the Bret treatment where the first reign sucked, but then he gets another chance and makes it big. Morrison for sure can be something huge.

They seem to have two schools of thought on creating new stars. There are the guys that come in, get over pretty instantly(Ipso factso: Lashley, Lesnar) and then leave, and that leads to other guys that seem like, with build, COULD be stars, but they're given stop/start pushes, like WWE's impatient with trying to get them over(The biggest culprit here would probably be Shelton Benjamin, who always seems to get RIGHT on the cusp of main event status, then somehow gets knocked right back down the card). The only guy recently who's really transcended that seems to be CM Punk, who's had a really organic rise to the level he's at right now.

Oh yeah . . . RVD. I knew I'd forgotten someone.
I agree with BradisSasha - it usally takes a good bit of time for a star to be made. RAW is full of guys who are still trying to gain acceptance with the fans, and it would be easier if you had a roster of established veterans to work with them.
