I don't know why, but for some reason as I was driving home from getting my new cellphone today, I was thinking this.
Remember in the 90's, everybody & their mother had a pager...back when cellphones were scarce & hard to get. Companies would do credit checks on you for a phone & I always failed back then, even though I was a freaking cellphone agent.
So everybody had pagers to keep in touch. Ya had the smart alec friend who's code was "69" & everybody fought over getting that number as their code. Ya had the folks who sent you a page of 07734, which was hello. Or even the folks who found it funny to spell boobs with 80085. Such cute people, weren't they.
Or there were my 2 buddies who had their own code & would page a girl with just their code & then wonder why she wasn't calling back...and it turns out it's because she didn't have their number & they were stupid & just keyed in their code.

I do.....it's for work, though. Nothing too serious.

Doctors do, at least around here. The ones that haven't gone to iPhones and such.

Used to use them for work all the time. Then I got laid off in November and haven't seen one since. Awesome.

I haven't seen a single use for them since about 10 years ago when cell phones were at least semi-easy to come by. Today, you can get a tracfone for 10 bucks at the dollar store. I really don't see where a pager would have any usefulness at this point.

Doctors use them; most reliable way to get a hold of someone.

My Dad had one for work until he retired last year. He worked for an oil company. Cell phones don't pick up where I'm from so he had to have one if they needed to reach him.

I haven't seen a pager in about eight years since phones got a lot more advanced.

I'd say doctors and drug dealers, but even dealers can get an untraceable Tracfone nowadays.
