A-Rod's cousin identified sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3917763How long until sports reporters say something like: "How do we know this guy is really the cousin?", "Why didn't this guy confess from the start?", etc.? Wasn't there a rumor going around that the "cousin" was Jose Canseco? To highroad: You seriously are comparing Gathright to Pie? Gathright is a bench player who can run and that's it. Pie will hit. That's what they said about Corey Patterson. Cubs fans are very skeptical of outfield prospects (Pie, Patterson, Nic Jackson, Ryan Harvey, Kevin Roberson, Tuffy Rhodes, Ced Landrum, Jerome Walton, Dwight Smith...). I never saw much out of Felix Pie that made me think any more than So Taguchi: 5th outfielder and defensive replacement. I hope that he does well in Baltimore, but no one should be expecting much.

Pie can hit? Since when? Triple A doesn't count. He's had a chance to show that he can hit Major League pitching for three years now and hasn't. I, as a Cubs fan, was getting tired of seeing him get a chance and flopping. Good riddence.

Dear ESPN,
I don't care where Manny Ramirez "ends up". I do not want to hear one more word about him until he signs a contract with some desperate club willing to overpay for maybe 4 months of "work".

I can hear the A-Roid Chants all the way over here in Iowa. This dude is going to quickly become the Face of Performance Enhancing Drugs in Sports. Somewhere, Mark McGuire and Barry Bonds are sipping on champagne and laughing.

Orlando Hudson goes to the Dodgers. No details on years or cash but probably only a one or two year deal.

But it would mean the Dodgers would be giving away a TON of first round picks. Ah, MLB and your convoluted draft and free agent systems, where a team has to sacrifice more draft picks than it has but no one seems to notice.

Well, its pretty rare for draft picks to actually produce quickly, so I think a lot of people don't think the picks are even worth it. I disagree with that, but oh well.

They're giving up one first round pick, 17th overall, to sign Hudson. Are you saying that by signing Manny, they lose out on draft picks that another team would have to surrender in order to sign him?

Actually they would only give up the one pick. If they re-sign Manny they dont lose a pick as he is their own free agent. Hudson is an A type so the Diamondbacks also get a sandwich pick between the first and second round, but that doesnt effect the Dodgers.

Either way, I don't see how the Dodgers lose a ton of 1st round picks.
